How to tell the kids they are

We're leaving soon and we've been keeping this a secret from DD9 since July. She's under the impression we'll go in the way-distant future (for planning reasons, I needed to get her opinions on some things). We're planning a long family vacation next summer elsewhere so have been talking about it to "through her off the scent" ;)

So far so good, she doesn't seem to know of the surprise. Our plan: she'll go to school as normal and we'll show up during the day to pick her up. We'll tell her we have a surprise but nothing else. She'll either figure it out quickly or will have the revelation at the orlando airport.

We are surprising our 5 children on the 23rd of Sept with a trip to WDW. We started out making plans to go the Myrtl Beach and until it was all done we are going to Disney. We are having some trouble keeping under our hats, I am the problems with my sudden bursts of excitement and tears, but we hoep to pull it off.
Here's our plan... We weill be leaving immediatley after school on the 23rd. WE will be heading for the airport but they don't know they will think we are driving to the beach since it is all the same direction. We are figuring when we get to the airport we will say we wanted to surprise them by flying to our vaction this time since they loved it so much when we flew to Arizona in July. The we figure once we get to the bording gate we will get the camcorder out and start our usual corny "so what do expect to get from this vacation and are you excited to fly" Then I want to tell our 3 year old a secret and it will be that we are going to see Cinderella, which she has been asking us to do for 6 months. I figure she will start telling everyone and then they will figure it out and we will have it on tape. My DH is a little concerned about the scene it will make but who cares. I don't think I want to wait until we are off the plane in Orlando because we won't be able to have the camcorder out in time to get there reations.
So that's my story and I hope to be sticking to it!!!

It is a lovely story, Michelle and I hope everything goes according to plan. It will be a fantastic surprise to give the kids. :)

My Aunt and Uncle told my cousin’s they were having an at home vacation. They had talked about a day at the beach, maybe a day in Boston and a night at a local hotel. When the kids woke up that morning they had put numerous things in a hat to pull "what would be done for that day" The fist DS (8) pulled a piece of paper that said Epcot.. My uncle said "what. how did that get in there... Pull another... so the next DS (6) pulled MGM.. My uncle again said that is odd.. and had his wife pull... She got Animal Kingdom so he took the last paper that said magic Kingdom... He looked at the kids and said.. well I guess we are going to Disney.. go pack... The ids were in awe... and started laughing at him.. to which he responded that the flight left at 4:00 so they had 2 hours and better get moving. There were tears and tons of disbelief but it was a great way to surprise them!!

I think this is the best one I have read yet! When I have children I will surprise them at the lat minute, of course until work, sports etc become issues.
