Late to the thread, but here's how I did it. I started warning my kids a few weeks ago that we may not be able to go and within this last week, I worded as we would most likely not able to go. So they weren't surprised when I told them on Sunday that we couldn't go in Sept. I may have bribed them with the possibility of a beach trip after Labor Day depending on the state of the pandemic.
