I have a question about how to tell a good pin from a Sedesma or Propin when you can't see very well. I have trouble seeing even with my glasses if something is small (old age :rotfl2: ). The other problem is that only the front shows when the pin is on a lanyard. I was not very happy when I traded with two cast members at DL and ended up with sedesma pins from them. They looked like a regular pin when I looked at them on the lanyard. Thanks. Debby

Bottom line for me is - if I like the pin who cares if it's a Sedesma. I have quite a few ProPins and Sedesma pins in my collection and like them just as much as the others.

I found that the sedema pins don't have the clear coating so you would be able to feel the ridges in the piece instead of it all being smooth. They just paint the medal and send them out. I like alot of my propins. I don't find them to be cheap.

Sedesma, Spain:

The Disney pin trading rules state that there must be a Disney backstamp on the pin to be traded with a park employee. In Sedesma, Spain a company has taken advantage of the vague rules and makes a low quality "metal" pin with the Disney stamp on the back that are replicas of true Disney pins. They are sold at low prices on Ebay and are marketed as good for use as traders in the Disney Parks.

Sedesma pins are very easy to pick out of a crowd due to their light metal base and non - smooth surface.

ArielRae,

Thx so much for the link to that guide!
We are going for the first time in April to WDW and I have really thought of getting into the pin collecting- (must collect before we can trade...- LOL) but I hadn't been able to determine if I "pre-purchased" some pins before we go if they would be real or not! This guide is great! I wonder if the person who wrote it is a DIS'er...

The Spain pins are smaller, look painted and often are made of a black metal. (A metal that even looks cheap. Looks like a black plastic almost.)
Agree, if you like it, so be it. I probably have some in my collection. But just know they are what they are -- cheap pins many do not want.

I did a quick search on Pinpics for Sedesma and came up with a list. I tried posting the link, but it linked to all pins. So anyone interested may want to do a search on Pinpics.
