How to surpise our 9 year old daughter that we are going to disney

Please we need ideas on how to surprise our almost 9 year old daughter that we are going to Disney world? I have come up with a lot of ideAs and watched a lot of YouTube .. We are flying out first week of May 2015 .. We don't want to tell her until the day we leave or the night of. She is very clever and I really want this to be a surprise as it's our first visit ever!!

Have you checked Pinterest? They have TONS of reveal ideas! You could do a scavenger hunt that would lead to her suitcase packed with a sign saying you're going to Disney? Tape it of course for a fun memory to rewatch again and again! Or you could have Mickey send her a letter saying he can't wait to see her tomorrow/later that day/etc.

I loved the scavenger hunt idea!!! I may just try that with my teens the next time we go.

A friend just gave her niece a cruise for Christmas...she had a puzzle with a cruise ship on it saying "you are going on a cruise!" She had to put together the puzzle to find out what her gift was.

I did a scavenger hunt for my kids to tell them we're going. I used this tutorial to create the puzzle for the back. All my kids, ages below, had great fun doing it. It ended with a large wrapped present (a suitcase set) with the Disney personalized Disney luggage tags inside the smallest bag. They had the idea once they saw the Mickey head, but only got the real idea once they saw their names on the luggage tags and suitcases! We followed by making a countdown chain to mark our days until vacation.

I had originally thought to do night before or day of trip surprise, but then decided to tell them on Thanksgiving, 3 weeks before leaving. It allowed for anticipation to build, some involvement in planning, help with sewing outfits (for my twin 9 year old girls)- all that would have been missed on a super short notice as I had previously planned.

I managed to surprise my kids a few years ago, when dd was 8 and ds was 11.

One thing that helped me cover my tracks was telling them we were going to visit their nana. She lives 4 hrs away, so we often drive up on a weekend. That explained the laundry, packing, organizing that I couldn't hide from them. (Mine are smart too--and suspicious ;-) --and there's no way I would've gotten everything done without them figuring something was up.)

When they got home from school on Friday before the winter break, expecting to go to Nana's, there was "owl post" waiting for them telling them we were going to Hogwart's (Universal) instead. It was epic. So worth the trouble.

How exciting...
When my dd was 9 I did this. I woke her up the day of our trip to a Disney princess cupcake from the supermarket bakery for her breakfast, then asked her to read me the pretty pink book I handed her... It was a shutterfly 8x8 (I think) that I had made up with pics from our trip when she was 6 meeting a lot of her favorite characters, to be her autograph book.. It was titled on the cover,
Emily's surprise trip to Walt Disney World, with a picture of her in front of the castle... Had her turn it over to the back, it was dated! Her new Tink suitcase was all packed under our bed.

We're going again in June and I was going to do it again... Decided not to and she is having a ball planning with me.

We are going the last week of April and DD has no idea. I'm just going to wake her up the morning we are going and tell her then "Do you want to ride the teacups today? OK!"

This is what we did!
Our twins were about 8 then, we woke them up at 4am and said, "Time for your first airplane ride"!
We had the bags all packed and in the car so they brushed their teeth and off we went!

Once we packed our bags to go on a trip. Took our DD and DS to the airport told DS (DD was only one) that we were going some where else. I went to the counter first and asked the help. I handed the lady at the Jet Blue counter a very small bag with a wishing star in it. She was amazing!!!! She gave the present to our DS and told him to open it. He did. She asked what he had. He said a star. I said yes a wishing star. She told him to wish on the star and tell her where he wanted to go. He said Disney and she told him to have a Magical time.

For other trips we have done the treasure hunt each clue rhymed and and the first letter of each clue spelled out our vacation location.

We have wrapped one large box, with several small presents wrapped (water bottles, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, glow sticks) then a box filled with small black balloons that had a sign we are popping with excitement please pop- each balloon had a letter and number to spell out our travel dates, also we put a huge Mickey balloon in a box with several latex balloons. When they finally got to the big balloon Mickey floated out with our inter. for our cruise.
