How to stay in VGCH if not an owner and can't plan 11 months out to rent points??

i really, really want to stay in a 2 bedroom VGCH in October. Finally got my kids' fall school schedule, but it's too late. I contacted several owners with points to rent from the DVC rental board, and some were kind enough to check and let me it's sold out for basically all dates prior to December. I checked with David's "dedicated reservations" page just in case, but there is nothing. Is there any other way to book this? I simply can't know my travel dates 11 months out, so not sure what to do. We've stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in GCH but that's not got the same amenities as a villa, which has a kitchen and washer dryer, plus the extra pull out bed in living room md extra bathroom. Any ideas??

For this October, no unfortunately, it's pretty much impossible at this point . Unlike other DVC resorts, you can't book cash rooms at VGC.

If you can plan 8 months in advance, you still might be able to snag a room for next year. Once the 7 month mark hits, the rooms pretty much get booked immediately, so anytime after that is very difficult. It's one of the hardest DVC resorts to book within 7 months

You could check on the rental board to see if someone has a reservation already they are trying to rent out, just be careful because unless they

Keep checking. People cancel reservations. You may want to book a normal room now and then cancel it if you can get a DVC room. If you are lucky enough, you may even find an owner who will waitlist for you.

I have the same issue as you do. I normally don't make concrete plans that far out. That's why I ended up selling my VGC. I couldn't get reservations for myself 6 months out or less, which is when I do my planning. Plus, life is always changing and vacations are pretty low on my totem pole and I end up cancelling vacations often.

Thanks all. I have a 2 bedroom suite booked at DLH for my dates, and GCH 2 bedroom suites are sold out already. I really want the VGCH for the kitchen and laundry, but it just isn't going to be possible. I'll keep, checking the boards and David's dedicated reservations page, though.

You could watch for a confirmed reservation for sale on this and other sites that rent dvc, but it's a long shot. I've sold a confirmed VGC reservation in the past, though, so it happens.

Be aware that if you have 7 months notice, you can sometimes book VGC with other points. I've managed it a couple of times, though we own there because that's an uncertain strategy. Like you, we really want that kitchen and washer dryer!

We ALWAYS use our other (Beach Club Villa majority of our points) points at the 7 months notice to book ! Our VGC points I try to save up and use if there is a certain date we want to reserve like 4th of July or Birthdays! We've even reserved at LESS than 7 months notice due to the flexibility of living close by!
Our LAST option into any DLR resort is to use DVC points for hotel reservations only BUT we try not to do it unless we REALLY want to stay on site!
LOVE the full kitchen & option of washer/dryer (usually stay ONLY 2 or 3 days) PLUS the 2nd FULL bath for 1 or 2 bed villas ! Also Extra Magic Hour time!!!

Thanks all. Now I want a villa even more!! I'll keep watch on the DVC page here. Maybe someone with a reservation will have a change in plans! Fingers crossed!

...unless they...? Very interested in your response!

Ha, sorry. I was saying, unless they can prove they already have a confirmed reservation for October 2017 , don't trust them because they are likely trying to scam you. Currently there are only 2 available nights for all of October for any sized room.

Just to get an idea of what you are dealing with, today is May 11, so 7 months from now is December 11. If you can at all plan ahead in the future, even 7 months + a couple days, your chances of getting a 2 BR at VGC are much, much improved. You can see how brutal the availability gets within the 7 month window if you look at the attached picture. Booking outside of 7 months requires someone with VGC points specifically though. If you book right at 7 months, you have an outside chance (like actually you could book a reservation starting 12/11 today with any DVC points), but any longer than that and the pickings are slim.

Thanks for getting back to me! Yes it looks very dismal unless the owner is an owner at VGC. I will have to try to plan for next spring, that way I can plan for sooner than 7 months, but I will have the school schedule in hand. Trying to book something that is essentially non-changeable and non-refundable to the points-renter, so far in advance without the school schedule, it difficult. Thanks all!
