I have heard some people order a double burger and ask for an extra bun. What else is there?

If you ask for a second bun, you will pay for it. They don't give it for free. I think it costs about the same as a second burger.

Oh look! Nelson84 is back!! And I was beginning to think that it was getting boring around here. Nelson always has the most entertaining threads. Pass the popcorn.

If you order a combo (burger, fries and drink) you can ask them to cancel the drink and fries and just ask for a cup of water. You won't pay as much for just the burger.

Why order the burger? There is a whole bar of food over in the corner! ;)

kids meal at counter service are excellent options. They come with a tiny drink and a side. Every kid meal I got was satisfying for a small lunch or dinner.

Also, check for places that have large portions that can be shared. I think there is a place in MK that sells a half chicken dinner that is rumored to be huge.

I also ate at buffet/cafeteria places that had free refills for drinks. Then you can just get one and share it with the whole group. Sunshine Seasons in Epcot had good stuff. If yo stay onsite check the hotel cafeteria. the one at POP has tins of free condiments that can be made into a meal with a small side. I remember they sold bread for 1.00 and you could get free PB and J in the condiments section.

Bring your own food tastes better and is cheaper

I found that the regular entree with sides from the wood-fired grill at Sunshine Seasons was more than enough for both my daughter and I.

Also, this wouldn't help with food, but may with drinks- is the free Coke products taste testing still available in Innovations East?

You can always find me downing three cups or so of Kinley, I love that stuff. I usually take two to go. It goes great with the cheddar cheese soup during the food and wine festival.

DH and I easily split a lot of the CS meals and we never went hungry. We found the portions to be fairly large, way more than just one of us could eat. IF we did get a meal for each of us, then we would do it for breakfast and skip lunch because we were way to full.

I guess he didn't like the answers he got on the cooking in your room thread so he thought he would try to stir the pot a little more.

Nah! Those thread starts were posted within minutes of each other. I think that he may have gotten all he could out of the "How Drunk Can You Get At Epcot" thread on the theme park forum and decided to move on to fresh territory.

Two words for you, Nelson: canned corn. :)

Order kid's meals at the quick service locations. Also, sometimes a snack can be very filling. A pretzel is a great example of this.

Actually I ordered a chicken dinner at Epcot, it was in the Land part where they grow those big lemons. Anyway it came with a side of a chicken with veggies and mashed potatoes that was definately enough for 2 people but I ate the whole thing myself with a few desserts a bag of chips and finished off the food left on my 3 kids plates. I guess I got a little carried away. The next day I definately repainted the inside of the toilet bowl. Let me tell ya I sat there with my newspaper for quite a while. I think I got to much sun.

Cosmic Rays has the chicken. It is very good. I understand people who share meals because there is a lot of food for one person or they have a small appetite and order kids meals. I understand sharing meals with kids. I get that. I think that is all fine and dandy. I just don't understand people that go to WDW and want to do some crazy things to try and spend less money on food/drinks. I know we all like being frugal and yes that can be done at WDW, but if people have to go to extreme measures for meals/food...I think they need to save up more money or don't go until they can afford the trip. :rolleyes1

Split quick service meals. My husband and I split them because neither of us like heavy meals during the day. Our two kids also split a meal (they never eat an entire meal by themselves.)

You can also split table service meals and just request they bring them out on two plates instead of one.

Carry water bottles with you and refill them at the water fountains.

Take some of your own snack foods into the park.

Yes, the half chicken dinner is huuuuuge! It is located at Cosmic Ray's Starlight Café in Tomorrowland at MK.

Well some people just can;t justify the costs. Personally I think most of the food at counter places in WDW is nasty. It's not worth the price at all.

What are you going to do? I am on a budget with the economy and all and a family has to eat.

You have to go to the "better" counter service places. I like to go to the Land to eat. They have "better choices". Plus you have the various CS places around the Showcase. You just have to do your research before going. Look at All Ears for menu ideas and prices. I don't think the OP was not wanting to buy the CS food because they can't justify the prices...but more about spending less on food.
