... until the next one :)

Welcome one, welcome all, to what appears to be my fifth trip report in the past 2 years. Gosh, I really need a life.

Our last trip to the World was a bit, how shall I say, a near-total catastrophe.
You can read it all about it here :

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1872155

We needed a redo. My boss graciously gave me six frigging days to do that. I didn't even have to lie this time. I think. If I did then I completly forgot about it. *note to self : check lie book *

Grumpy actually started her vacation almost a month before we were allowed to leave so she was going insane by mid-July. She even packed before me !!! A first.

We both agreed that since it was "most likely going to be our very last trip for a long, long, long time, we wouldn't be looking at the expense".

To be honest, we've used that excuse for the past 4 trips. We both know it. Neither of us cares. So we spent the $2500 on two flights to Orlando, booked the Poly for 6 nights (at AP rate, see, we're reasonable) and planned enough meals to keep us full for about a month.

Was it worth it ?
You tell me !

Looking forward to this one! Thoroughly enjoyed your last one. Can't wait for details.

Yay! I'm almost finished reading your last trip report. I can't wait to see how that one ends. It's honestly one of my favorites that I've ever read.

Can't wait to read about your new trip.

I'm jumping on board! Can't wait to hear about your latest adventure Marina! :woohoo:

Glad to see a new one :) Remember when you worried that no one was reading your TRs?! :surfweb: Now you have people begging you to keep writing!! Looking forward to hearing about the (newest) Disney exploits of Marina and Grumpy :cool1:

July 31st, 2008, was the "D" Day. "D" is for Disney !!! Also, for Darnit are we gonna leave already ???

As usual I didn't sleep for a second the night before. Instead I checked our reservation on AA.com. I had requested an upgrade for our domestic flight, and thought we had no chance of getting it. But we had !!!! YESSSS !!!
Who can sleep before a Disney trip ???

As it turns out, Grumpy can. When I stormed into Grumpy's room at 2.30 yellin "first class baby, first class!", I scared the living daylights out of her. She jumped, screamed her head off, banged it on the wall in the process, and nearly fell out of bed.

"Don't you dare kill me today! Get away from me!!"

:confused3 I retreated to my room and waited until it was safe to come out again. That was around 5am.

Grumpy was putting her makeup on and singing Silent Night.

"I've had this song in my head for days!! It's making me nuts!"

Ah, yes. My fault. I'm in Christmas carol mood. It happens every year towards the end of July. I dream of snow, red parkas with fur collars, and listen to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir's Christmas CD all day long. And night. Grumpy had been unwillingly listening to it all night as well since her room is right next to mine.

After a shower Grumpy was in a much better mood. She was also ready to LEAVE !!

I bought a new camera a few days before we left. I usually carry around my big S3IS, but it's too heavy and I can never take a quick shot with it. So instead I bought a tiny little cybershot and fully intended to take as many useless photos as possible.

Just get in the car already !

Our street at 6am is a crazy circus...

Off we go. I'm suddenly feeling veryyyyyy tired but stay awake long enough for us to reach the periphérique (a road that circles Paris)... I wanted to take this pic for you guys

The "telephone pole" in the back is the Eiffel Tower :)

This achieved, I leaned back against the seat and relaxed.
Seconds later, it seems, I heard Grumpy telling me to get up because we only had a few minutes for my dad to drop us off.

"Huh?"

Man, that was quick. I bolted, grabbed my backpack and the rest of our luggage from the trunk while Grumpy went to get a cart. We loaded it up and made our way to the check in desk. They opened up the First Class check in for us (we were flying coach but can check with First because we're Advantage Gold members :yay: ).
The line to check for coach was crazy and we were thrilled we didn't have to wait in it.

Our luck did not stop there. Once we had our bag checked and tickets in our hands we waltzed through Security. The duty free shops were just opening and for once we had plenty of time to look through them. Grumpy bought her usual cigarettes, and we tried on a dozen lip glosses and mascaras in the cosmetics shop. Even ended up buying three, plus a little skin care kit for each of us. ** That reminds me, I haven't seen those since Orlando. **

We still had plenty of time and hadn't had a thing to eat or drink since the night before so we went to get some breakfast. Over 9 euros ($13) for 2 tiny pineapple juices, a packaged not-even-Mickey-shaped-waffle and a yucky fruit cup. That's French cuisine for ya'll.

Then it was finally time to head to our gate. Grumpy went to a newstand to buy magazines when I heard her name being called on the speakers!!!!

I FREAKED.

Oh gosh that's why it was going so well. Something horrible is going to happen !!! They lost our reservation ! They don't want me to fly because I'm too heavy !!!! They found liquids in our carry ons!!! We'll never make it to Disney!! :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I grabbed my mom at the shop and we went to the desk. My knees were like jello. Grumpy said she'd heard her name being called.

"You are traveling with ... Marina?"

Yes, me. Daughter. Good daughter. Good girl. Totally deserves to go to Disney, I swear. I won't buy giant Stitches or anything, I promess. Won't eat candy. Won't laugh at my mommy.

Just, please let me go see Mickey!!!!!

You have me sitting on the edge of my seat now ;)

Also remember if you need a quick Disney fix you can always go DLRP :)

Yay, you're off today so you have lots of time for updates! :) I'm sure they were calling her name for something good, right??!

Yay! So glad you started another report! Love the picture of the Eiffel tower on the way to the airport. I hope your mom's name was called for something good! popcorn::

Once again I am hooked. I am subscribing.

By the way I had them call my name at the airport once too. DH and I were headed to Las Vegas with no kids ;) ;) and the massage oil was leaking. Hopefully your situation isn't quite as embarassing. :sad2:

I also got pulled aside at the airport security on our trip to WDW a couple of weeks ago. I had a sharp tool in the camera case that I had no idea was there. :confused3

If you have time check out my TR. Link is below. Not too many people seeme to be reading it yet. Probably won't be as exciting as yours. I did forget to put in it about me getting pulled aside regarding the sharp object in the camera case.

I can't wait to hear more, your trip reports are the BEST!!! :woohoo: I've felt lost since finishing up the last one.

BTW I always sing Christmas carols around the end of July too, glad I'm not alone on that one.

Ok, so we actually celebrate Christmas in July at work -- my co-worker and I play Christmas carols on our computers, go out for lunch, and exchange gifts on or near the 25th. It really brightens up the middle of the year. There is even a local radio station that only plays Christmas carols all day long, so everyone can enjoy Christmas in July!

I've loved your previous trip reports. I can't wait to see how you ladies made up for the trip with your sister.:wizard:
