We let our kids buy their special Disney toy (with their own money) on their last day at the parks- last Friday. The next morning, my daughter's had broken.
She wasn't treating it roughly at all and since it broke so soon, I sort of think Disney should replace it. She was very upset as it is something only available in the parks and she loved it. We had a little bit of time so we went to Downtown Disney on Sat. and tried to exchange it there but they didn't have it anywhere. We tried to call the number on the receipt but the call lines were closed. Guest services at Downtown Disney told us we could go back to Magic Kingdom and they'd let one of us in to exchange it for free but we'd either have to pay for parking (more than the toy itself!) which they would not reimburse us for, or we could take a bus or drive to the Contemporary Resort, take the monorail over to the parking lot, then back to Magic Kingdom, back to the ticket center/parking lot, and back to Contemporary resort....which we just did not have time for. I checked the online parks store and it isn't available there either. Meanwhile, we had to leave and my daughter is still so sad. Her siblings all still have their special toys so it is a constant reminder. Has anyone had any luck with Disney shipping a toy exclusive to the parks to you? I'm going to call in the morning but I was wondering how other people's experiences may have been and if there might be any tricks for working it out with Disney. We went ahead and got our money back at Downtown Disney because they couldn't guarantee that we could exchange it if we didn't go back to Magic Kingdom that day which we didn't have time to do it their way that day. I'd be happy to pay for it again, but I don't really want to have to pay shipping (or at least not much) since I sort of think it is on them since the toy shouldn't have broken the way it did.
