We're going on our first WDW trip in less than 30 days! :cool1:

Three adults and DS who is 2 1/2 and won't be included in the plan.

So my question is...if he ends up not sharing with us and we have to order something off the menu for him...how does that work?

What if we want to order an appetizer or drink that's not included in the basic plan?

Will there be a separate bill for those items?

Can we pay with cash for the other items? I read on a disney dining review someone mentioning a 'dde' but I haven't found out what that stands for. Is that basically like a credit card that you pay out at the end of the trip?

Any help and explanations would be greatly appreciated!

The DDE is a discount dining card that you have to pay for ($60) and then it gets you 20% off food including alcholic beverages ... but they put 18% gratuity on your bill automatically.

Not sure, but I think you have to have an AP or be a Florida resident to get one of these cards.

Anyway, we were just there with the dining package in September. If I remember correctly, they would bring the bill with total charges ... I'd give them my room card to charge the credits for dining. Then they would return with the amount due (OOP). Most times they would bring back the original bill ... this way I could figure the appropriate tip. If they didn't, I had to try and remember the total amount from the first sighting! I just paid with cash, but it would have been just as easy to pay with a credit card, I think.

With the gratuity and then a drink or two, we always had OOP expenses and the above worked fine for us.

The DDE stands for Disney Dining Experience but is now called Tables in Wonderland. This is a benefit available for purchase for Annual Passholders and Florida residents only.

If you are on DDP and order items that you will OOP, you will receive a bill at the end of the meal, just like all of us who do not do the DDP get. You will have to cover your tips somehow anyway because those are not included in the DDP.

You can pay for these items at each meal with cash or a credit card or you can set up charging priviledges when you check in at your resort and have the charges added to your roomkey that will be charged to the credit card you placed at checkin.

We were there recently with ds6 and dd2 (too young for dining plan), so we would order sometimes things extra for her. They have to ring things up separately..I found A LOT of times, they would give us what she wanted for free (dessert or drink).
