My DH and I are cruising 10/3/02 for a 3 day cruise. First time on Disney Cruise. What is a cashless cruise? How do you pay for things? If everything is charged to your room can you pay by credit card at the end of the trip or do you have to pay cash? I was just wondering if I should get travlers checks or not? It will only be a 3 day cruise and if we can pay by credit card maybe I won't need to. What do you think?

Thanks for any help!

Most people pay by credit card, although cash is also an option. You just put a charge card on file, and they will put all your charges on it. You can even charge the tips (most cruise lines make you do the tips in cash). The only things you will need cash for (besides things you buy on shore) are the washers and dryers if you want to do laundry and quarters if you use the machines for "female necessities" (there is a dollar bill changer in the laundry rooms). Other than that, it's cashless!! You use your key to the world card for everything. They won't even accept cash at any of the stores etc. on the ship (if you are using cash, you still charge everything to your key card and then settle up at guest services at the end of the trip).

In the past I have called Magical Treasures and pre-paid our ship board credit. On board credited can be purchased in $25.00 denominations. Unused amounts, if any we never have any, will be credited back to your credit card account. You can call them at 1-800-601-8455.

Room service is tipped in cash. And if you want to send postcards from Castaway Cay (which is in the Bahamas), you'll need cash to buy stamps in the post office.

Thanks, spotssister,
I forgot all about room service! And they are great...when we pre-order our breakfast the night before, they are almost always exactly on time, or sometimes early (don't worry, they'll call first). They definitely deserve their gratuity :)
