How to pack for December weather in the parks

We went in December 2013 and it was FREEZING cold the week we were there. None of us brought enough cold weather clothing and we spent a fair amount of time being cold and kinda miserable. The drizzle most days really didn't help! One lady from Arizona said it was the coldest weather she'd ever experienced in her life! Pay close attention to the weather immediately before you leave - we missed that the daily highs had dropped 10 degrees from the week before and it made for a trip with a lot more time spent in the hotel than we'd intended!

ETA We're from Canada and our flight was delayed going in due to a huge blizzard that blew through the night before so we're very well versed in "real" cold we just didn't pack properly for this trip especially due to the damp. Right now we're struggling packing for our WDW trip on Monday.

So even though DLR is in sunny California, it still gets cold here. It's not like Hawaii that stays fairly warm even in the winter. We do get down into the the 40's and sometimes the 30's. Having said that, each person will "feel" cold differently based on where you come from. We're from SoCal and go each year in December. We all wear jeans. The kids wear long sleeve shirts and jackets and beanies. Depending on if we're going through a really cold spell or not when we go, they might even wear a thermal layer under the long sleeve shirt. As for me, I wear jeans, a thermal shirt, t-shirt and beanie and I'm good.

I'd say, if you want to pack light, wear jeans, a heavy/think thermal shirt with a t-shirt over that, and a beanie. If you think you might need another layer, bring a light jacket and some light gloves for those really cold nights. No flip flops or sandals. I would wear shoes and socks. That should be plenty warm for you no matter where you come from.
