We have the balance tp pay next week...its currently sitting in my bank account.$27000 which will be about £14000.

My question is ..how shall i do this to get the best exhange rate?
My bank is barclays shall I just pay with my debit card?

Also anyone know how I send offf all the DVC documents I have just signed?

They have given us a pre paid fed ex envelope...do we call fed ex to pick this up ...or take it the post offoice or what??

Thanks for your help.:thumbsup2

I don't know about the best exchange rates, but one way to pay it off would be to put the payment on a credit card that will earn you cashback / Airmiles / any kind of reward system. When we bought our points, our guide was very happy to split the payment over two or three month's installments so that we stayed within our cc limit. We earned quite a few Airmiles on the transaction!

Paying by cc saves on bank transfer fees, although I know some cards charge exchange fees. We've found these to be less than the bank fees would have been, and now always pay our annual dues this way.

You should get full instructions for returning the documents. When we did this, we had to call FedEx to come and collect the package - but I don't know if that's how they still do it. It was all very simple :)

Congratulations and welcome home :cool1:

I've just bought more points. If you have a Nationwide Credit Card that always offers the best rate. If not, use the credit card that gives you some points, air miles or whatever.

You will be able to use your debit card. If you contact your bank they'll let you know the rate. For such a large transaction, you're better off letting your bank know anyway as they have anti-fraud measures in place.

As I don't have a big enough credit limit on my card, I've broken the transaction into two. So I've made a payment, which I immediately paid off and now I've made another which I'll pay off when my statement comes.

So far as FedEx is concerned, go onto their website. You'll be able to find details of their closest depot to you, where you can drop the paperwork off.

Hope this helps.

Welcome Home!

When we originally paid for ours, we just called and paid using our CC over the phone. We don't have a limit so we didn't need to arrange anything with the bank/CC Company, but we let them know anyway. Our CC's all offer points, so we made a few £££'s to spend in M&S:banana: There was no CC fee as our account doesn't charge one for use abroad.

We pay our dues on-line.

Call Fed-ex and they will collect the envelope from you.

we just got our bank to tranfer the money for us
cost about €20

Welcome home

so have you your first trip planned yet

Hi jns...I think we are going for a bank transfer to. I made enquiries and barclays will do it for £20 and the exchange rate when I asked yesterday was 1.95 ...so all good.:thumbsup2

Can I ask a silly question. When we go to the bank on Saturday to do the transfer ..do we take along the info onthe bottom of our "reminder" sheet...saying info for wire transfer?

Its a bank in New york ....and it also says to include contract number and name.
We are buying two contracts...shall we lump both balances together and make one transfer of $27000 or shall we do 2 transfers of 13500??

Yes, you'll need to take along the information contained within your 'reminder' sheet. You can lump together both sums - just make sure the bank includes both references on the payment form. That way, you'll only pay one transfer fee to the bank. Because it's a large amount of money, you should be able to get a better rate by booking it with the bank. I won't go into the technical ins and outs, but I'd give them a call. Don't leave it until you go into the branch as the Saturday staff might not have the relevant expertise. If you phone first and explain that you want to call in on Saturday, they can book the rate for you now and make sure someone has the necessary paperwork ready when you call.

This is really useful information, no mention of paying by CC was made by our guide which looks to be the easiest option. Though I will also make enquiries at the bank.
Thanks.

It is also possible to open a US denominated bank account in the UK several banks do do this though not widely advertised you normally need a minimum of $5000 to deposit in these types of account to open them, AMEX recently offered me as US$ denominated charge card, this though is by invitation only, sure they would offer you one if you spend quite a bit each year whan in Disney. This can also be useful if you ever rent points out to someone in the US and are paid by paypal as you do not have to change the money back into £s only to change it back to $ when on you next trip.
