I know many of you are creative. I am not. I would like to begin allowing my children to earn their souvenir money for next year. But I am reluctant to give them actual $ that would spend.

I'm thinking of giving them fake, or play, $ to save. This money would be replaced during the trip with the 'hard stuff'.:smooth: I'm afraid that they would lose actual disney $. AND, that way, they could give me the $ they had saved when they wanted to buy something, and I could just use the Disney Visa Rewards Dollars card to purchase big stuff, and hand over D$ for quick and dirty purchases (snacks, bric-a-brac). Am I making any sense????

I would like to create a cute type of $ to print on my computer, but figure all you clever sorts would have a ready made template with cute characters already to go. I did glance at mouse for less and Deb's site for templates, but didn't see anything.

Anyone? I have searched, but found nothing. Yet. :D

No advice on creating money, but we give our two DS's Disney Dollars that you can purchase at the Disney Store. They are just like cash at Disney but obviously can't be spent anywhere else.

Good luck!

Forgot to add--

I carried an envelope for each DS in my fanny pack--didn't let them carry around their own Disney Dollars.

We thought of that, but having lost the remote control for several days (still no sign of it:rolleyes: ) we thought fake $ safer. And we'll have the swipe-type card to spend from our Disney Visa, so thought it would be easier than buying Disney $. The nearest TDS store is in Syracuse which is over an hour away. We will buy a few Disney $, but didn't want to give them (one will be 4, the other 8) stuff that mattered if they lost it. I don't think I could handle the panic and tears!

Well I had a thought while I was reading your post and went to check my Disney Monopoly game since of course it has money in it!! Well the money only has Scrooge McDuck on it. Not sure if that would work for you but in the meantime I will keep looking!!

You could just by a package of play money from the Dollar store and stick on disney stickers :)

Okay it took a little while but here is what I found for you:

If you go to this link: I went to Laughing place store and searched disney monopoly!

http://www.laughingplacestore.com/images/products/0743L.jpg

You will see the Monopoly Disney theme park edition, in which you can see a picture of the money with characters on it.

If you go to this link: Went to hasbro.com (maker of monopoly) and looked in replacement parts!

http://www.hasbro.com/pl/page.replacement_parts/dn/default.cfm

This is the Hasbro website where you can order the money pretty cheaply to give them.

If they don't work for some reason let me know. Hope this helps a little, I may just have to use your idea if you don't mind.

Or got to Best Buy, and buy a $5 Disney software package ( where they sell the "budget" software ), Mine had three different types.

It was SIMPLE to use. I am not creative either but this stuff was a snap. In fact, I have done a whole lot of stuff with this software and I never even read any instructions.

If you can do this you will be able to personalize your "money". Easy as pie..... really.

cut to size, Disney stickers, and used a marker to put the denomiination.

CM's loved it!!:)

Hi

If you use google "graphics search" and search for Disney Dollar you will get graphic images of actual Disney dollars to print. They will be one-sided and can't be mistaken for actual dollars. If you want to be extra careful or creative you can import it into a graphics program and print it larger or smaller than a real Disney Dollar or modify it. We are doing something similar to use as temporary prizes awarded to the guests at our sons Bar Mitzvah party (guess what the theme is). The children will redeem their "Disney Dollars" for Disney souveniers at a prize booth. Have fun.

Thanks so much for your effort!:D I'm working on that angle now, but ordering the money will take 4-6 weeks :earseek: !! I'd like to start the program soon (like NOW!!). So DH, always budget conscious, says, "Well, heck, just buy the game." So, now I'm looking for a better deal than I can get through laughing place. I love the graphics on that game, btw. And I want to make sure I get the 'pretty money.' LOL.

If that doesn't work, I think I'll get multi-colored index cards, write on denominations, and find disney stickers to make 'em cool.

Does it need to be designed like money? What I was thinking is maybe more of a coupon or gift certificate design with Disney clipart on it. If you have MS Word, they have templates for some gift certificates that you could customize. If you don't have Word, you could still make up something using a real coupon or gift certificate as a starting point then customize. Here's a link for a site with some nice Disney clip art:

BTW - If you are concerned about your kids losing track of this "play" money, I'd suggest keeping your own log of how much each has earned or "banked". That way, in case one child does misplace some, he/she can get a new gift certificate/coupon reissued. I think it would be too easy to forkids to forget to take care of their "Disney money" if it looked too much like the kind found in games.

I thought I might make them graphs to color in. Then we'd have two records. I don't honestly think it's fair to make DS3 completely accountable. Maybe little stickers for DS3 to fill in his chart with. I have to post the jobs available, and the responsiblity charts for everyday...sounds like I need to create a 'disney job center.' LOL

Is there something I'm missing about this site? The links to the clips in the left column keep disappearing after the site is loaded. I put my mouse over to click on one and ZAP! away they go!

If you have a color scanner, why not just scan and print actual Disney Dollars? You could add their names to the scan and print your own 'Disney Dollars?' Please understand that I am not advocating counterfeiting Disney dollars, but your children could feel more 'grown-up' handling personalized disney dollars! Just a thought.

I make travel scrip for DS. I don't specifically do it for Disney, but for any place we go that is away from home where he has a spending allowance.

I just use Word, and draw bill-sized boxes that I then fill in with a big dollar-sign clipart in the center, the denominations in the corner, and a phrase like "Johnny's Vacation Cash." You can cut and paste to do several on a page. Then I print them off on some Astro-brite paper stock that is a distinctive colour that is easy to spot if left lying around. DS gets all $1's; easier for me to cash it in on my credit card without any issues with "making change" when he doesn't spend in an even multiple dollar amount.

I don't think it's necessary at all to make it really look like money; I think that would tempt DS to do something like play cash-register with it.

newtowdw1 - I'm not sure what's happening for you, sorry. I just tried the site myself and was able to get to the clipart as usual.

One thing I did notice on a couple of occasions when I was trying to get to a specific "page" of clipart is that they sometimes seem to overload their server because I get a message that the site is currently unavailable due to server load. Other than that, it's been working for me.

Here are a couple of other sites you might have better luck with:

http://disgalaxy.com/
http://clipart.disneysites.com/
http://www.ginevra2000.it/Disney/index.htm
http://disney2go.disneyfansites.com/CHARACTERSLIST.html

Good luck and have fun!

I made my own Disney Dollars and called them "Cailtyn Currency". The dollars themselves were a reward/treat. We started with MS PowerPoint, although I imagine any program will work. I drew 3 rectangles per page, and on each one got some Disney Clip Art that I downloaded (the site used to be disneyclipart.com - it does redirect to the new site name I believe) and pasted some onto each rectangle. I then labeled each has Caitlyn Currency (we also have Chloe Currency for DD2). I bought some stickers (stars and Disney characters) and when something was done I gave her printed out rectangles to decorate.

We used a reward chart for things like "doing things the first time asked", "no accidents", "superstar helper at school", she was 3 at the time we started this, and as she has gotten older her tasks have grown with her. So many stars on the reward chart meant time for arts and crafts to decorate her money.

Then when it was time for her trip she gave them all to me, we counted them and I told her how much she had for prizes and treats. She could then cash them in during our trip, and Mommy would take her money and then pay with real money for what we were getting.

I'm with JamesMom...just scan it. If you don't have a scanner go to Kinko's, Staples or OfficeMax and have them scan it. :)

Did the DS at the Oakdale Mall close? I haven't been there in a year or two, but we thought about going last weekend just to go to the DS and then changed our minds.

BTW...we are in Corning. Howdy neighbor! :wave2:
