How to make a ressie with another family

Good friends of ours happen to be going to WDW the same week we are. We would like to have dinner together one night. I know how to make reservations for my family via the MDE website, but how would I make a reservation for both families together? Also, the other family is staying offsite. Is this even possible? We would have a party of 7 (4 adults, 3 children).

Your best bet is to have one person make an ADR for a party of 7. Your server can split the check if you need; just tell the Server at the start of the meal, who is on which tab. The size of you party for the ADR is not tied to your resort reservation, so you can make ADRs for larger or smaller parties.

If you make two separate reservations (one for each family), there is not guarantee that they can combine the ADRs when you check-in, seat both parties at the same time, or even seat the two parties near each other. You might end up on opposite sides of the restaurant. While the CMs will do what they can to accommodate you, there is no guarantee if you have two separate ADRs.

You can make one reservation for the entire group. It doesn't matter that the other family is offsite because the number of people on a dining reservation can be the same, fewer or more than the number of people on your resort reservation.

You can ask your server for separate checks, but since you are a party of 7 each check will have have an 18% gratuity added.
