How to Make a Disney Skeptic Fall in Love with WDW - August 2011 PTR

Day 3 - August 22

Whether or not we made it to MK EMH last night will determine what we do today. This could be the one day we don't make a RD! If we're out at MK till 2am there's no way we'll be going back there first thing in the morning. So here are some options:

We DON'T go to EMH at MK the night before:
-If he head back to POP after Illuminations and get to bed early, we'll go to MK in the morning for RD.

We DO go to EMH at MK the night before:
-We sleep in and BF will be doing a happy dance! :woohoo: Whenever we do wake up we could go anywhere! We'll have just come off two days of MK and Epcot, however those are again the most recommended parks to visit (by TP and EasyWDW). HS and AK both have EMH so they will be a little more crowded but that's okay with me. It would be like a bonus day at one of those parks anyway since we'll be going back for another full day at both later in the trip. We could also go to DTD for the afternoon. I think I'll leave that choice to BF when we're actually there and see what he wants to do.

So about the EMH, AK is in the morning so we definitely wouldn't be hitting that but HS has them at night so if we sleep in, we could head over there after dinner and maybe get in a few rides on ToT and RNRC. I would love to do that but there are so few headlining rides open at nighttime EMH (unlike MK) that I feel like the wait times may not be short enough for it to be worth it - especially when we're planning to spend the day there tomorrow anyway. But again, we'll see! I'm sure I'll be consulting the Lines app on my phone to help us make a game-time decision on this issue.

So now let me rewind a few hours and talk about dinner. When I booked ADRs in February, I was planning to be in MK this day so we have dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe at 6:10. This morning I decided to see what other times were available for dinner and found an 8:30 was available so I booked that as well. My thinking was, maybe we'll go to AK in the afternoon until it closes at 6 since wait times can be pretty low at the very end of the day. Then we could still go to HS EMH after dinner if we wanted.

Then I also thought...if we eat dinner later, maybe we can hop over to the Poly afterwards and watch Wishes from the beach which I've never done.

Hmmm, I think this post ended up as more of a ramble of ideas than a plan, which I guess is really what it is since we don't actually have a set plan yet. Oh well, I guess I can deal with just winging it for one day! :goodvibes ........maybe...:rolleyes1

P.S. Don't worry, I will be canceling one of the WCC ADRs so someone else can take it! ;)

I'm in! Can't wait to hear all about it! I tried Whispering Canyon Cafe for the first time on my last trip last October, and actually thought it was a pretty fun experience.

:-)

So last night I sat down on the couch with BF and glanced at the clock. It was 10:10pm. I just HAD to point out that at this time next week we'd be watching Illuminations, although it would be just about ending and then we would....

[insert dramatic eye roll here]

:furious: Yes, he rolled his eyes at me!

WELL! I had kind of gotten used to it *HOWEVER* I still didn't like it! I stood up from the couch and explained to him that I only had SIX days left to talk about the trip and if he didn't want to listen, then I'd go talk to people who actually cared (ie. the Disboards :rotfl:) He said he was kidding (although I don't think he was - I think he just felt bad that I got upset) and wanted to talk about the trip. He specifically asked if we could discuss what we were doing on our first day because he wanted to be prepared (what a suck-up, right? ;)) So I let him go through each part of the day: what time we expected to land, what time we expected to get to the hotel, what time we expected to get to the park, and so on. I corrected him where necessary :rolleyes1 but he pretty much knew our plans for Day 1. When we had finished walking through the day's plans he said, "So we're planning to get to the Magic Kingdom at 11 am, and we won't be leaving until 11 pm?" and I replied, "Yup! And that's a SHORT day!" :lmao: He says he can handle it but he has no idea how tired he's going to be! I suppose we could skip MSEP/Wishes if we're really too tired but I think we'll be able to make it. I think we'll be taking breaks most other days. Especially if the heat is unbearable.

So what started as an eye roll ended up being a nice talk about our trip. ;) Let's see what I can get him to talk about tonight...especially now that I know if I act like he hurt my feelings I can guilt him into it! :rotfl2: If that fails, I'll just use my birthday (which is tomorrow) and tell him that he has no choice but to talk Disney with me or he'll upset me on my bday! ::yes:: Hmmm...should I feel guilty about that?

I guess my computer thought it was time to submit that reply when I clearly wasn't done.

Gotta say, I was kind of scared to use that 'eyerolling' emoticon :rotfl: ;)

But I really hope you guys will be able to do the late night at MK...you won't have to deal with the heat OR the crowds AND you can sleep in the next morning! :yay:

I think it's a good idea on switching your dinner around that night :thumbsup2 Maybe if you're able to, get there like 20 minutes before to see if they have any early openings so you don't feel like you have to rush through dinner to try to make any of your activities?

Don't feel guilty at all, LOL! And early Happy Birthday to you! :cake:

Hi!

I hope you don't mind that i'm joining along here. The title of your PTR caught my eye because that is the exact goal I have for the trip im taking with my boyfriend in October! He is convinced that Disney is only for babies, and no one over the age of 15 goes unless they are with their family. I am determined to prove him wrong!

I can't wait to read about the rest of your trip!

I have to share what my skeptic did for me today! When I first woke up I found this:

(I cropped out the bottom so you wouldn't have to look at my messy dining room table :rotfl:)

It was very sweet and made me smile. Then he left for the gym and I ate my breakfast. He knew I was planning to leave for the gym later than him so we wouldn't be going together. When I did head out to my car I could see something funny through the windows as I got closer. I opened the door and found balloons all over my font and back seats! With the balloons was a note:

"Please mind the balloons as you drive to the gym." :lmao:
At the bottom it says, "Check your trunk real quick!" I was laughing out loud at this point but I opened my trunk and found:

:jumping1: :scared1: :eek: :yay: :p :hyper::jumping3::bounce::Pinkbounc

With it was this *homemade* card:
(He'll do really well at Animation Academy, right? This is the best thing I've ever seen him draw!)

And this message inside:

Thanks!

"Crushing my enthusiams" is the perfect way to describe it! :rotfl: BF made up for it today though! Your DH will get more excited as the trip gets closer and your boys are going to have an amazing time!

That is sooooo sweet. I got all teary eyed reading it. He is a keeper for sure. I don't think your task at hand will be all that hard afterall. It wont take much time to convert him to a disney lover. Maybe not as hardcore as some (like us) but he'll love it.

:dance3:Happy Birthday!:dance3:

That surprise makes up for the eye-rolling.

We were going to try WCC, in fact it was the last one cut. Guess I'll just have to go back so I can try it!

First off, I'm late, but HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:wizard:

What a wonderful surprise from your BF! It looks like you've got the perfect kind of person going with you for Disney... anyone who loves a little pixie dust now and then is BOUND to love WDW.:thumbsup2
