This might be a stupid question, but I've searched on the Jello site and cannot find the answer! I'm making jello for the party tomorrow in single serve cups and putting orange first then layering with green. How long do I need to wait before I pour the green on top of the orange? Anyone know? TIA :)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I would think not until the first layer has set and completely cooled.

When I make ribbon jello, which is similiar, I wait at least an hour, if not more between layers. I use a 9X13 pan so the layers are fairly thin.

Make sure the jello you are pouring onto the existing layer is cool also or it will "melt" a hole in the layer that is already set.

Cool thanks guys! I can always find an answer on here :cheer2:

You can speed up the process by putting the pan in the freezer after each layer is added, as well as adding ice to the jello to cool it down enough to add to the pan.

As long as it is 'soft set' and not hot, you can add the layers. As mentioned before, the second layer needs to be cooled too. Have fun with it!

here's something cool. A recipe for the old jello 1 2 3 that you can make at home.
3/4 cup boiling water
1 package (4-serving size) Jell-o brand gelatin -- any flavor
1/2 cup cold water
ice cubes
1/2 cup Cool Whip Non-Dairy Whipped Topping -- thawed

Recipe

Pour boiling water into blender. Add gelatin. Cover and blend at low speed until gelatin is completely dissolved, about 30 seconds.
Combine cold water and ice cubes to make 1-1/4 cups. Add to gelatin and stir until ice is partially melted.
Then add whipped topping; blend at high speed for 30 seconds.
Pour into dessert glasses.
Chill about 30 minutes. Dessert layers as it chills. Garnish as desired.
