Hey all,

This December will be our first trip to the USA from Canada. My question is what do you put on your luggage for identification and where is the place to put it? We are using ME but I think we have to pick up our own luggage and I would hope by having some type of identifier it would stop anyone else from taking it by mistake. Any suggestions? I also read that some people use cable ties instead of locks. Is this the best thing to do?

I bought some colorful ribbon and tied it onto our luggage handles last time. For our next trip I will be adding some lime green Mickey tags. I am going to try to make them out of the paint sample chips for HomeDepot. I'll let you know how they come out! Hope you and your family has a great trip! :moped:Welcome to the USA :sunny:

If you are using ME and have the yellow tags with bar codes (paper adhesive, not "hard" tags) then you won't need to pick up your own luggage. The yellow tags identify your luggage as going to Disney and they will take care of it and drop it off in your room after you check in (be sure to bring any thing you absolutely need for the day in a carry on (medications, change of clothes, etc) you should do this whether or not you use ME).

I generally tie a ribbon on my handles to make it easier to identify my bag.

Really any type of locking mechanism on suitcases now a days is rather pointless. The security measures almost always require them cutting the lock, tie, etc. for a search.

The easiest thing I found to do was to buy some colored tape and tape the top and side handles in this bright green tape.

It really made the black luggage stick out.

(copied from another post)

Make up 3x5 cards (fluorescent orange or green if you wish) all with the same 3 digit number of your choice in big digits, and your name in smaller print. Attach these to the sides of your baggage.

i use a combination of the white medical adhesive tape on the handles and a strip or 2 of duct tape on the front and back of our luggage. works great for us. it makes finding our luggage so much easier. usually i can see our luggage from the beginning ot the conveyor belt

put a sheet of looseleaf, with your arrival info, and "someone at home" contact number, on the top of your clothes, inside your suitcase:)

That way, if all identifying info is ripped off in transit, you still have a hope of getting your bags:)

I purchase some Duct tape in a nice bright color and make a large H for my last name on both sides. I also put some around the corners. When I am done I give the remaining tape to my 2 DD's who play tic tac toe on the side of their suitcases. Last year one of the cases was misplaced. When I described it to the Song attendant he stopped me right after I said it has a bright pink tic tac toe on one side. :rotfl2: He just walked away and returned with her suitcase. Never even asked the color or size or showed me the pictures of the various suitcases.

I also find the bright duct tape stands out on the luggage carrier. I remove after each trip so the tape doesnt damage the suitcase. The duct tape I buy at Walmart for around $2-3 and one roll covers 5 suitcases even with the tic tac toe games. I find the ribbons and kerchiefs are becoming the norm. I have seen a few people with crafters colored glue on the sides that stand out.

Have a great trip> :cool1:
