Does anyone know the best way to get from Epcot to the Boardwalk and how long it should take?

Picture it, 9 people for a magical gathering: DH & I are planning a 4:30 Divequest at the Living Seas in Epcot for 2/9/05 while the rest of the family watch from the observation decks. Divequests last about 2 hours for DH and I but the actual dive is 40 mins. Then, we are going to have an Illuminations Cruise leaving from the Boardwalk at 7:30ish. So, while DH and I are finishing up our dive, the family will go get something casual to eat, we will meet up with them, and then head to the Boardwalk. I am thinking a 4:30 divequest gets in the water about 5:15/5:30ish so we should be out of the water 5:45/6ish...for them to go eat. We should be able to meet up with them by 6:30 then start to head over to the Boardwalk for our 7:30 departure.

So, hence: does anyone know the best way to get from Epcot to the Boardwalk and how long it should take?

I just hope we will be able to fit them both in (divequest and specialty criuse)...are we too ambitious? TIA!

Well, I can tell you how to get to the Boardwalk from Epcot but I've never done Divequest so I'm not sure if you're too ambitious or not! Sounds like fun, though.

You can leave Epcot by the International Gateway and either walk (about 5-10 minutes--it's really close) or take the Friendship Boat--which will take a little longer because it stops at the YC/BC boat dock first. We usually just walk over but since you have a big group and the boats are nice & relaxing--you might want to do that.

Have a great time!

NMAmy is right. The Boardwalk is very close to Epcot, but I had another thought.

We've been having magical gatherings at WDW even before Disney came up with the name, and usually when we travel there are nine (or more) in our group. The one thing I've learned is that it's much easier and quicker to move two people from Point A to Point B than it is to move nine.

What I would suggest is that the rest of your party head over to the Boardwalk area ahead of you -- either walking or by boat. They could pick up fish at Harry Ramsdens just before they exit through the International Gateway. They could get something to eat at Beaches and Cream. Or they could pick something up at Spoodles pizza window.

Regardless of where they eat, though, I think I'd send them ahead. You and your husband will travel much faster, alone. Take it from someone who knows. :teeth:

Yes, the quickest way is to walk all the way. The boat actually stops at the Boardwalk first after leaving Epcot but unless it is just about ready to leave Epcot when you get to the dock, it is quicker to walk. When the boat gets to Epcot, it usually sits there for 5+ minutes waiting for passengers.

Anyway, from the Living Seas, it will probably take about 20 minutes to get to the BW walking at a good pace.

Definately Walk....it is the quickest..

Another thing is that while you are asked to be at the dock by 7:30, the boat will not leave until near 8:00 pm.
