We are getting married "at home" in Maryland then honeymooning in Disney next year. I've read through some PJ about brides incorporating Disney touches to their weddings, even though they aren't at Disney. We have plans to do just this, and as soon as I figure out how to post an image, I'll share some of them! But I thought it would be nice to collect everyone's ideas on how to have those magical Disney details at your "at home" wedding.

Please share!

We are from NY, and actually getting married in Orlando. We decided against an actual Disney World park wedding and instead are getting married at a hotel about a mile and a half off Disney property and incorporating Disney themes.

We are still in the early stages of planning, but this is what we thought of doing so far:
- Maybe entering on a horse drawn carriage, but not sure if I want this or not yet. I have to think about it.
- All of our guests are going to get Disney-themed welcome bags, not sure what will be in them yet.
- Our bridal party gifts will be jewelry and theme park tickets.
- Our save the date has Cinderella's castle lightly in the background.
- Our welcome/rehearsal dinner and day after wedding breakfast invites will be Cinderella's carriage invites. (we wanted to keep our regular wedding invites pretty regular: non-disney themed, just using our wedding colors and monogram)
- During the reception while everyone's eating we would like the DJ to play all instrumental versions of Disney love songs.
- Our escort cards will be held by something Disney themed, not sure yet.
- Our favors will be Disney themed.

That's all I have so far. I actually have to think of more, so I'd love to see what other people post also!

We were thinking the same thing, but for during the cocktail hour. Have you checked out this CD, its perfect!

Also want to do a horse and carriage to arrive to the reception. I think that's so romantic! This pic is from a wedding at our reception venue.

Our overall theme is "old world fairytale" and my vision is to take the qualities I love about Disney, (being timeless AND whimsical) and bring that to life in our wedding.

Disney inspired wedding gowns - didn't work out for me, though they are gorgeous, none were the "one" for me, but would be a great way to bring in more Disney to your day.

We are getting married in Missouri and having an at home Disney wedding as well.

The top of the cake will be the white chocolate Cinderella Castle that is used at Disney weddings. It will also say "And They Lived Happily Ever After"

The bridesmaids will walk down the piano version of "When You Wish Upon A Star"

Our guest book is from Disney Florist with the Disney heads on it.

That is about all I can think of for now!

When we got married, 5 years ago, we had the crystal Cinderella and Prince Charming dancing as our cake topper, then our center pieces were satin pillows with a glass slipper on each with rose petals scattered throughout. We made a card box to look like Cinderellas coach. I am gonna have to look for pictures of all this.

When I married, I had Snow White/Prince invitations, thank-you notes etc. I had children from a previous marriage, so I found a piece of fabric with princess outlines on it and left one table with fabric markers for the kids to leave a lasting memory for us. My intent is to make it into a quilt one day (however I haven't had time to learn so it is in my wedding box!) :rolleyes1

Hi everyone! :goodvibes

My DF and I are getting married September 26, 2009 "at home" here in RI but we're adding a bit of Disney magic to our reception :wizard:

-Our cake topper is going to be Minnie and Mickey

-Our invitations have a castle on the front and it says "Dreams Do Come True" (they're not "Disney invitations" but fit into the theme just the same)

-Instead of table numbers, we're having the tables named after Disney couples

-We're going to walk into the reception to "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"

-The favors are little "glass" slippers and we're filling them with personalized M&M's

-The centerpieces are wrought iron pumpkins (think Cinderella!) with votive holders and I'm going to add some flowers, or something of the like, around
the base.

I think that's it for now....or at least all I can remember at this point :lovestruc I would love to get married at Disney but costwise, we can't do it, as we're paying for the whole thing ourselves. We are, of course, honeymooning in Disney because this is, after all, where we got engaged

I'd love to hear from some other brides who are having "at home" Disney weddings! And congrats to all the future Disney brides out there! :bride:

There's so many ideas you can incorporate doing an "at home" Disney themed wedding.

We told some people we were doing a Disney theme but others mostly assumed....they know we're Disney junkies!

I was married and had my reception in Philadelphia, and honeymooned in Disney. We also had some Disney "touches" at our reception.
-Our Save the Dates were two layers...on the top vellum layer there was an image of tinkerbell and pixie dust, and on the bottom layer there was a picture of where we had our reception.
-Our invitations were more "traditional" but all of the stamps were disney stamps
-Our table names were Disney characters
- We had silver cinderella coaches on the guest book table and the gift table
- Our welcome bags were Disney themed
- I gave the kids Disney containers and activities during the reception
- my DH and I wore our Mickey and Minnie Bride/Groom Ears for some of the reception
-We had the Lenox Cinderella and Prince Charming and the Precious MOments MIckey and MInnie Bride/Groom on our cake table
That is all I can think of for now...if I think of anything else, or when I get my professional pictures disk I will post pictures!

Boy, this thread is just up my alley. I'm at work, so don't have pictures available at the moment. I have a few [pre-wedding] photos on my wedding blog (www.weddingbycolor.com/aymekae). But here's a list of how I incorporated Mickey and Minnie into my classy red, white, and black backyard wedding. (First came the colors, then the decision to honeymoon at WDW [which we've never been to, as we are closer to Disneyland], and then somehow Mickey and Minnie just fit for us.)
-Mickey/Minnie cake topper
-Mickey/Minnie invitations
-My sister offered to make a scrapbook guest book with black and white photos of us (it signs rather like a year book, a few on each page, and it turned out beautifully). Apparently, there's a lot of Disney scrapbook material, including a Mickey head punch. Now it's a keepsake, rather than a book with a list of names.
-I did buy the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings CD (which I absolutely love, by the way), and was planning on using it during dinner up until the day before, when my husband's brother offered to play Brazilian guitar and his friend the saxophone, and it was like, hm, iPod music, or live musicians.
-The center pieces were my favorite part. My sister found Mickey black and white vases and white Mickey platters at disneystore.com. I got 5 vases, and put 5 long-stem roses in each (no "floral arrangement" necessary). I got 4 platters, and put 3 red glass votives on each, plus a black and white picture of us in a black frame. The other tables had these photos as well. Then I used red rose petals, red heart confetti, and black, white, and red Mickey head candy confetti to sprinkle on the rest of the tables (not all 3 at once.) The only thing I would do differently is the candy confetti. Since it was an outdoor wedding in July, they pretty much melted to the table cloth, and the kids tried to eat them. Made a mess.
-Our table names were our favorite attractions at Disneyland. We sat at Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters (our favorite), and the table with the most kids sat at Turtle Talk with Crush. We nixed Haunted Mansion, for obvious reasons (after just being there Saturday, there's a few phrases the "black widow" says... till DEATH do us part... as long as we BOTH shall live... creepy).
-Our favors were personalized Mickey/Minnie pint glasses. I ordered from www.customglassware.com, and I'm extremely happy with them. Check out my blog for pictures and pricing.
-For the kids, we bought Disney coloring books and crayons. For the infants, a little Minnie or Mickey ($5 at the Disney Store). We were set up to play Monster's Inc (groom's favorite Disney/Pixar movie) in the media room, but none of the kids went after all.
-Beyond the music CD during dinner, we had "Someday My Prince Will Come" (Snow White) and "The Best of Friends" (Fox and the Hound) to play during the toasts.
-Not exactly a wedding touch, but we did the Disney Honeymoon Registry, and I'm glad we did. We made almost $800 that way, and that was maybe 5 or 6 guests that contributed. Not to mention all the folks that gave cash/check and told us to use it for our honeymoon (I don't know if they trusted the website). And Disney does NOT take a percentage the way some other honeymoon registries do. You get a special Disney gift card, and the funds are updated automatically. Since our honeymoon is not until September, we had plenty of time to apply the funds to our balance (45 days before). However, I did read that if you already paid for your vacation by credit card, you can apply the gift funds instead and get refunded on your credit card.

That's all I can think of now, but the wedding turned out more perfect and romantic than I could have imagined. The Disney theme was classy, yet fun, and everyone "got it" (and they expected it from the invites and website). If you have any questions about my wedding, or ideas, or how much things cost or where I got them, just ask.

I finally just bought the CD off amazon.com yesterday, I can't wait for it to come! Thanks for the recommendation!

We're having our Vow Renewal in my hubby's Home state of Louisiana. There is the Louisiana Castle, in Franklinton, LA that we're thinking of having it at or at the Southern Oaks Plantation. I have an adorible Cinderella and Prince Charming Cake Topper which was purchased through the Disney Store Online when it was on sale for $10 (maybe $20 with shipping), and we're doing a lot of DIY projects for it using Cinderella Clip Art. Our Wedding Announcements had white pearl Embossed Castle on it. Our Cake is going to be of Cinderella and Prince Charming with the stairs from the Castle and the Clock with the hands pointing to almost midnight. We're going to hand out star Wands with ribbon saying Happily Ever After on them for our exit and as we walk back up the isle. Instead of a flower girl, her title is going to be our little "Fairy Godmother". We will enter on a Horse Drawn Carriage. Our colors are the light blue, baby pink, baby green, lilac, white and gold (my dress is white with gold tint and my hubby will wear a white tux with gold vest and tie). Also instead of bouquets, my Bridesmaids, Maid and Matron of Honor and I will hold Fans.

This is an excellent thread! princess:

We also are not able to have a Disney wedding due to the expenses of it all. So we decided to have a Disney themed wedding at home next summer. My DF use to love little Mermaid when he was little, and so did I. So we're planning on doing a Little Mermaid/Under the Sea theme. We're planning to make our wedding centerpieces using glass bowls with sand and seashells in them. I'm planning on making our invitations, but still trying to come up with ideas.

I'm contemplating wearing a light blue or light purple dress, I really love color and want to incorporate it in whatever ways I can. I know the traditional wedding dress is white, but I guess I'm a little non-traditional. So far our colors are most likely going to be varying shades of blue.
I'm thinking about making the rose wands for my bridesmaids in white with blue ribbons.

And of course we plan on using the Disney Fairytale Wedding CD at our reception! It's one of my favorite CDs and I bought it long before I got engaged. It's so beautiful!

I'm from MD too... About 20 minutes south of Baltimore! We are having an @ home reception in July. I know that I want to do princess movie centerpieces. I know we are doing:

Beauty and the Beast - Single rose in a glass dome
Cinderella - glass slipper on a pillow
Aladdin - Genie lamp on something ( not sure what yet)
Little Mermaid - Sand with shells.

I'm not sure about what else where doing but I know that we are going to be playing some disney music and I'm going to use my Mickey flower balls that I made! I think that's it for now!

What part of MD do you live in?

We had a Disney Wedding at home in October in Missouri. I ordered the white chocolate cake topper directly from Disney!

Here is a picture.

This is beautiful! I was thinking about doing a disney theme cake but I'm not really sure if we are going to have a cake at our home reception! How much was it to order the castle... if you don't mind me asking???

I believe it was like $200 dollars, we got the small one, there is a larger one that is a lot more.

It is kind of expensive but when I saw it I just HAD to have it! We have a glass dome over it now and it is in our cabinet!
