Trying to get my in-laws a studio for our trip in January for 3 nights. Right now there is availability for the 1st and 3rd night but nothing for the 2nd night. Do I book the two nights that I can with 2 different bookings and waitlist the middle night? Not sure what's the best way to handle this.

What's your plan if the wait list doesn't come thru? You'll need a back up.

You could book consecutive 3 nights at another resort/view and then set up a waitlist at your preferred resort/view to replace those 3 nights. This guarantees that you have something reserved for them, albeit not an ideal situation.

Another option is to book the 2 available nights and set up a waitlist for the missing night. If the wait list doesn't come through, you've got a problem.

If you have enough points, you could book the 3 consecutive nights wherever they are available AND book the two open nights. Then set up one wait list for the missing night with the stipulation that it replaces the 3-night reservation if it comes thru.

We currently have a 2 bedroom booked but I'm trying to split that reservation in half doing 2 studios instead. We have park reservations for ourselves but my in laws don't even have tickets yet and I would hate to be stuck with a 2 bedroom for 4 of us. I figured I'd keep the 2 bedroom until the waitlist came through.

I would take what you can and then waitlist, One option to consider is to see if MS can book the missing night on cash while you waitlist.

This way, you do have what you ultimately want, It may cost a little but saves the 2 bedroom points if it ends up just you, Plus, if they don’t go, then it costs nothing.

But, one night will always be easier to full than 3 and the nights you see will not be held aside in case.

Last year I could only get one night for a three night stay, second week of Dec (busy time). I booked the one night (middle night) and waitlisted the other two nights separately. They both came through. Now this was a home resort, booking at about nine months out and they came in right after seven months out, about a week apart.
