How to handle rude people at parades and how not be one?

I had a bad expierence at the Spectro parade. I had staked out my spot for over an hour. As soon as the parade started, 2 girls stepped on my toes
& hopped in front of me. I asked their parents to move them over w/ them,
& they acted like they didnt speak english. Although I had heard them.I asked them again this time a CM overheard me.He asked the parents to move their child. Well they did but moved them in front of someone else when CM wasnt looking. I swear some people have no consideration for others :crowded:

We staked out our spots on the curb for Spectro (Jan 2004) at least an hour in advance. We laid down our coats and sat on them (DH, DS, DD and myself). Somehow, with a bit of squeezing here and pushing there, by the time the parade started DS had to sit between DH's legs on the curb, as there wasn't enough room for the 4 of us to sit! And this was during low season! I can't imagine what it is like during the summer months. I'll have to work out my strategies for DL parades this summer! Otherwise I will end up being squished like a sardine in a can!.................P

You need to have a place staked out at least____ 1 hour in advance and that's pushing it. ....... Take up as much space as humanly possible because people will suck that up like a sponge.

Last year we had a woman push her 2 small children up to the front of the line (children I don't have an issue with) I will gladly move to the back to let a child enjoy the parade.... But as the parade time drew nearer the Mom tried to finagle her way to the front as well...

I very politely told her that we have not been standing in line for over an hour to look at the back of her head. She would have to go back and stand there.

DH & I have seen these parades again & again and if overhear someone say this is their 1st time, (or especially someone that's polite that came from far away) I have no problem letting them see first.

But being rude & pushy doesn't score points with me!

I've had several bad experiences at parades at MK. One time I had a lady have her son actually seat on my leg so I would move over. Which there was no room for me to move. I was so bad. I heard her tell her son this too. What made it even worse was that my DH and I had been seating there for an hour.

Also if your standing up behind people that are seating on the curb please don't inch up once the parade starts and lean all the way over them. I had two parents and their three boys jumping and kicking me and leaning over my whole family for half a parade. And then one of the boys leaned so far over he fell on top of my 4 yo niece. My sister about killed the boy. There was some not so nice words and they finally left.
