Hi!
My family of 4 will be traveling to WDW in October  and so far I'm doing pretty good on the planning bit. My question is how do I get to and from our home airport? I don't want to take our newish car and leave it parked there for 10 days. Is it safe to take a taxi with two kids, one in a booster and one in a carseat? Both of our parents have smaller cars so I doubt three adults and two kids plus all the luggage would fit. I thought about having my dad drive us in our SUV and then bring it home for us but that seems so putsy. Just curious how everyone here plans to get to and from their home airport. :confused3

Thanks for any advice! :thanks:

We leave our car at the airport in Indy every trip we make. Never worry about it for even one minute. I feel it is safer there than sitting in my driveway at home. You have to pay to exit any lot at the airport, and I guess that Milwaukee is probably the same way, so there is no way someone could steal the car since they couldn't get out of the lot without my ticket, which is with me. I would leave the car and not give it another thought. JMO

Could your parents drive your vehicle and let it at their place and when you come home, they pick you up and then you can drop them back off.

My in-laws or my dad do this for us.

Otherwise, I've seen stretch limo's in Milwaukee go to the airport.

How much does it usually cost to leave your car at the airport? Just trying to see if it fits in our budget. My dad is a retired deputy who used to work at the airport here in Milwaukee, and he says it is safe too. I guess I'm just a worrywart...

Whoo hoo! I would LOVE to do a limo...maybe if the kids were a bit older. Our nicer car is parked in the garage so I guess I could try asking my dad if he would mind. I know him tho and he HATES driving other peoples cars. I can't remember him EVER being in a car accident, but he worries. Yea...like I would sue my dad! ;)

Google (or otherwise search for) the Milwaukee airport by name. Chances are excellent there will be information/links on the airport's official website with transportation options.

We've done all 3 of the following & we've never had a problem:

1. Ask a family member or friend to drive us & pick us up
2. Leave our car in the parking structure - $10/day for long-term ramp
3. Park at the Allright lot on Howell & take their shuttle over - this is a surface lot, but fenced in & guarded

as someone else mentioned, there are also limo & van services that can pick you up at home & drop you off, depending on how far away you live

you can see the official airport info at

One easy solution is to use a car / van service. A number of my co-workers have used Airport Connection in the past (http://www.mkelimo.com/) and have been very happy with it. For me I tend to take my own car and park it in the garage ($10.00 per day) as it makes it easier to load things up the night before.

If you have other questions with the airport or parking feel free to drop me a pm as I fly out of Milwaukee at least 2 or 3 times a month for work and at this point have a pretty good idea of how to make it work :earsboy:

We are flying out of Milwaukee in October too! We have always left our car at AllRight Parking. It runs about $8/day (a few years ago) and they take you back to the terminal and then pick you up when you return. Their lot is a locked/secured lot. We have never had a problem with them. You might want to check them out.

You should have your in-laws drive you like they are driving us. You will see our van in their driveway when they drive us. Just a thought.....have you asked your sister-in-law? Just wondering.... :rotfl2:

Where are you coming from in Wisconsin? Mitchell also has a garage to park in it was 10/day I'm not sure if it went up.

I used Milwaukee Limo in May with no problems, and will use them again in October. Its nice to not have to drive through traffic, and to be dropped off right by curbside check in and not have to worry about our car while we are on vacation. it would of cost us $110 to park, instead it cost around $135, plus tip, to use Milwaukee Limo.

We live very close to the airport in New Berlin...so I am guessing the cost of a limo might not be worth it. :(

How about the step-sister?????? Couldn't resist!!
What an excellent idea! Thank you for your insightful advice. At least my head shaving scenerio was feasible...

another thought especially if you have an early flight is to stay in a motel with airport parking, have done this twice around milwaukee. this way don't have to get up quite so early, their shuttle takes you to the aiport and picks you up. Just check how many days parking is included with your room. Worked out cheaper for us than the lot. Milwaukee also has a long term lot that is cheaper than 10./day, or at least they used to.

We take our car to an off airport parking place and self park. I think it's around $4.25 a day. The airport shuttle personnel take us to the airport, which is a couple of miles away. We have never had any problems on any trip we have been on leaving our car there.

What do you mean feasible? Not a chance. I mean if you have family, why not use them? You could have your godchild way good bye to you as you board your plane. What more love could you want? Just a thought!

We flew out of Mitchell in April and did a Park & Fly at the Country Inn and Suites, and then shuttled over & back. There are quite a few hotels in the area that do it and are reasonable. Just ask if they have a secured lot.

New Berlin is where I grew up and I'm also an RN :thumbsup2 !

I forgot the best way we have found. Go the day before to MKE rent a car and drop off the next day when you go on your flight. Do the reverse on the way home.

don't quote me but I believe Milwaukee Limo is a Van service. Their link is found on the airports web site.

This is a really good idea! I will have to start checking prices now! Thanks! Us RN's are always thinking :) ...unlike teachers :teacher: who stop using their brains once summer vacation starts...(jab to my SIL tatooed goofy!)

Don't worry...I plan to pack a picture of my Godchild so that I can look at it every day we are on our vacation...
