How to get the best rates at Disneyland Hotel

To your question about pricing seasons-- I usually google "DVC point chart" and find the chart for Grand Cal. It spells out the price seasons (with dates) nicely and I assume that translates to regular hotel rates also. The 2016 chart is already available. No doubt there will be "some" kind of promo if you can't do Dapper or other.

It would stop very few people. There are many people who will go to much further lengths to save a lot less than they save with the convention rate discounts. A login would probably deter a few people, but not many.
I will go to far lengths to save 50%!

You know what I thought that before for WDW but didn't know is the DVC seasons were the same as the resorts. I will look those up for DL to compare.

Yeah I can't say if identical, but should give you an idea and I doubt they would publish the actual seasons for the hotels. The names (adventure, magic, etc season) are the same as the hotel seasons, and if you look at the dates they coincide with holidays, spring breaks, AP blockouts, etc. And if you price hotels for the different dates, they seem to move accordingly. Just another planning tool. Good luck

For WDW they used to post the rates per season somewhere but not sure if they do anymore. Allears used to post the rates on their resort pages.

So when will they announce Dapper Days 2016 and special rates become available? Is there a Dapper Days thread on here? I should just go look I guess lol

Other than Daper Day, any other thoughts regarding my OP?
Orbitz is about the only site I've come across that offers discounts on hotel bookings. Their discounts work on top of any discount put out by Disney too. Also unusual. There are a few discounts offered by Disney on the Disneyland hotels but no where near as many as WDW does. There are some discounts for early 2015 through both Disney and Disney Visa. They seem to end in March though. The commonly expressed thoughts is there will be no other discounts for a while due to the 60th stuff. I booked using an Orbitz discount and if something does happen to come up for June I'll cancel and rebook. But I do not count on it.

If you go to the Dapper Day website (dapperday.com), they have this posted for fall. Those rates are higher than the current DD spring rates but still a good deal:

ETA: Fall Dapper Day is Sept. 18 and the rates are good for about a week before and after. You can find that out, though, by starting the process of booking a room. It will give you the dates you can book at that rate but one of your dates must include the actual DD.

SPECIAL RATES FOR HOTELS AND PARK TICKETS

If you're joining us for our Fall 2015 events, you may book nights at the Disneyland Resort Hotels with these very special rates.

Disney's Grand Californian® Hotel & Spa $249/night

Disneyland® Hotel $209/night

Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel $199/night

Book online here or call Disney Group Reservations at 714-520-5005 M-F 8-5 and request the "Dapper Day Group Rate" or email: DLR.CONVENTION.GROUPS @ DISNEY.COM

Gay days also has a special rate. Gay days usually takes place during Columbus Day weekend and they have convention rates a week before and after that weekend usually.

This may help too: when you stay at a Disney Property, make sure you ask the concierge to confirm you are on the "returning guest mailing list". I get deals mailed to me that aren't always advertised.
I think you can opt for email as well, but I tend to delete emails and I have a folder that I put all my mailed deals.

It may also help to register with Orbitz and start using them for all your travel searches and needs. I was obsessively searching almost every day for flights and hotel deals with them for weeks and then out of the blue they sent me a 30% off pin code that was good for DLR hotels. It was not their typical promo code, but a personal 16-digit code just for my one-time use. I was so excited and it was the only way I could afford to stay at the DLH!! It's worth a shot!
