How to get the best photos taken for photopass

Sometimes on rides they take your photo when you go down a hill, and then offer those photos for sale after the ride.

Can those photos be added to the Photopass account and included on the CD?

I think on a couple of rides they can be added to your photopass but the only one I know for sure is Test Track as we have this on our photopass cd. I also remember getting some from a character dining added to my photopass card, there was a code on the envelope that they used at the photopass desk.

Only ride you can get is TT. It's so cool-all you have to do is slide your PP card in the machine and you have it.

Here are a few of the "magic shots" and one of TT

Do you have to ask the photographers for the magic shots? Do they just tell you to pose certain ways? How does that work?
Thanks...43 days left!!

Depends on the photographer. Also on how busy they are. I would ask every PP photog who takes your picture if they can do "magic shots". (or almost all of them). On the photo above of my DSis and her DH holding Stitch in a box in front of AK the photographer had them do it-they didn't ask.

And yes, they will pose you for it. Some may tell you what shot they are taking, others don't. Besides the magic shots many photogs will take pictures of you in other fun poses. I think these are fun as well.

Here we are pointing at my DD who turned 10 that day (note the 10 fingers she's holding up)

Playing air guitar at DHS.-we took this same photo a year before but it disappeared. According to a photog Disney doesn't allow HANES to show in the photo (or maybe it's HANES who doesn't). So on this one he made sure we were blocking it out. I was also told they didn't want the trash can in the photos either but I've seen a few that have it.

I have others but they are on another computer and not uploaded to photobucket yet.

I pre-ordered the photopass CD my last trip and i'm still debating on whether to buy it for our trip that starts tomorrow(i better decide soon!).

1 tip that has been helpful to me:

If you forget your photopass card at home, just pick up another from a photographer in the parks and at the end of your trip you can put all of the pix onto 1 card. I've been able to do this in the hotel lobby.

I'd also recommend that each adult member of your travelling party get a photo card so that you get as many pics as possible!

Hope people don't mind if I jump in and ask a question on this thread ~ looking for opinions regarding the photopass ~ I am definitely going to preorder, but can't decide if it is worth it to get the one for 149.99 that includes the CD and a disney photo book that you create ~ or the 99.00 that includes the CD (without the photo book) ~ any thoughts/opinions would be much appreciated! Thanks
PS LOVE the images of the previous ones with all those "magic shots" ~ that sold me on pre ordering the photo pass!! (especially that one with the balloons!) thanks for posting!:)

I had read this tip before and used it last year::love:

Write your name on the Photopass card in permanent marker. This way if things get hectic - as they do sometimes - you are positive the card you leave with is the one that belongs to you.

Sept 2011 - 6th visit in 6 years :dance3:

that's a great idea! Something else I do is take a picture of the PP card# with my own camera so that if it gets misplaced or accidentally given to someone else I can still access my pics.

I'm so glad someone posted about this. I've been wondering about photo pass, too. For example, are the photographers easily found in the parks? Are they all over the place, or just in very select areas?
yes, I am very interest with this topic:rotfl:

Okay, in my personal experience there are less PP photogs available (both at WDW and DLR) then there have been in the past but there are still plenty around at the 4 major parks. I say major parks because for the first time last year we did not see one PP photog at either of the waterparks. This was in late Sept. Not one midweek or on the weekend. I even asked at Guests Services and they said they aren't always there in lower guest times. Bummer!

Anyway, you can find them at the 4 parks in the areas around the 4 park icons. MK-Main Street/Castle; DKS Hollywood Blvd/Mickey's Sorceror's Hat; EPCOT-entrance to the park; and AK-with the Tree of Life behind you. They are also located in other areas but you may hit that area when they are on break or noone is working it that day.

We have found one of the roaming ones in WS at Epcot and got some great shots in several different lands. Many times they can be found on the way to EE in AK. You can get a shot taken with EE behind you in the distance. They are always located on the bridge as you enter Africa and usually in several locations by the Tree. Sometimes they are by ToT in DHS and R'nR. Epcot-they can be found between the fountains and the entrance to WS. And of course many times you will find them with the characters.

My best tips-everytime you see one, stop and get a picture taken. Ask them if they take any magical shots. Be silly-sometimes those are the best shots. Tell them you already pre-bought the CD-if there isn't a huge line they may take more than the requisite 3 shots.

Feel free to ask the photographers where others are working that day. They should be able to help.

Look for the photo pass photographers in Adventureland. They don't wear the standard garb, and they only do two people in a picture, but when you see the results, you're in a sword fight with a pirate!

I plan on taking a picture of the back of my photo pass, but couldn't I just add the number to my account on my smartphone in the park?

We've done this at DLR but have yet to do it at MK. I want to make more of an effort to get PP taken at MK. We typically don't spend much time there (being really close to DLR) but we plan on getting Premiere AP so we can go to the parks as much as we want. ;)

And yes you can just make note of your PP card number(s). Just as long as you have some record in case you lose it. We have never lost a card, but just in case, I like being covered. I also will get several cards. About one every day or two, that way the other cards are safe in my room.

Here's another magical photo you can get in AK. Most of the PP photogs seem to do this one. It is exclusive to WDW. Not available at DLR.

Here's the Hook one taken at DLR. Same pirate, different view than WDW.;)

Great information from everyone else. On another thread related to this someone said to make sure to take a picture of your PP card with your phone just in case you lose the card. If you lose the card you lose your pictures. With the number on the card they can pull up the pictures. Then just get another card from the PP CM's and you will be able to get all your pictures. We get a card for myself and DH in case we get split up and find a picture we want taken and the other has the PP card.

SOMEWHERE...there is a list of the parks, where the PP are and what special effects can be done where. I was able to print it out for our 2010 trip, I jsut looked thru everything I have and can't find it (we upgraded our computer for Xmas). I was able to print it out on cardstock like an index card.

I think someone on the DISign area had done it...I'll keep an eye out!

What a great thread, thanks for all the tips and posts here! My DH and I have been discussing Photopass and pre-buying the CD but I wanted to really understand it first - and now thanks to you all I do!!

Here's the link to the listing on allears, but I think some of it is out of date.

Basically I would ask each photographer which ones they can take.

I thought I had seen them all but last year I was doing a CD Share and of the them got Tink fairy wings taken at the entrance to EPCOT. That was the first time I had seen that one. I''m going to ask for it this year.

You're welcome. But be careful-getting PP taken can be addictive! :rotfl2:
