How to get room upgrades????

Hello all
Could you good people out there give me advice on how to get an upgrade. My two sons and I are staying at WL in July (standard room), but it might be nice to see how nice the other rooms in the resort would be like. It's going to be my birthday while we are there--will that help?

You could ask, I guess. It all boils down to how full the resort is and who is checking you in. It might be tough in July.

Just ask at check-in. My DW and I did that when we checked into WL on our trip (May 11 - 20). We had reserved a woods-view room. Tracey was the CM checking us in and we asked what it would cost to upgrade to courtyard view. She went back and checked -- coming back with a big smile and upgraded us for free! We offered to pay, but she said we were her first guests to check-in and she always liked creating some extra magic for her guests.

I have a question. If I was to pay for an upgrade at, lets say, the CR, about how much a night might that be?
