How to get on the first safari truck?

we would like to get on the safari truck first thing. We feel the animals will be more active. If we are staying at the polynesian, when should we get over to the Kingdom? Any sugestions would be great! Thanks!

Anytime its early you'll get to see the animals.

And this really isn't on this topic, but I hear the animals are really active when it rains.

For the earlist admission to AK you will need to go on a EMH (Sundays and Thursdays) this will let you enjoy the park one hour earlier than general public. When you enter the AK go straight back to Africa to ride Kilimanjaro Safaris, (Do not stop you will have time later to see all he other wonderful attractions) after your safari is over I would recommend going on Pangani Forest Exploration Trail as the groillas are also active eary in the morning.

Be sure you are there a few minutes or more before opening...if you can't get to the bus in time to arrive before EMH opening drive your personal car, parking is free for Resort guest you will will have a good parking spot as most people staying on property will ride the bus.

EMH for the Animal Kingdom is actually on Monday and Friday. After entering the AK they stop you at the tree of life until actual opening time. Mickey and Minnie drive in and speak to the crowd for a few minutes and then lead the crowd to the safari to prevent an all out sprint to be the first on the safari. The animals in the morning were awesome.

We have found that if it's quite cool out in the Winter months, the animals are less active until the day warms up a little. For winter trips the better viewing might be a little latter in the day. That is at least what we have found.

Sorry, GoofyJim is correct I looked at wrong Park EMH for the Animal Kingdom is actually on Monday and Friday. (Sundays and Thursdays are Magic Kingdom)

I'm not sure why you're so insistent that you want to be in the first vehicle. If it has something to do with a perception that the animals won't have been disturbed by other vehicles, you might want to re-think.

The animals have indoor accommodations for the evening, and rousted by the CMs and sent out to the savannah in the morning. They then need to be fed, which means more CMs driving throughout the party and depositing appropriate food at predetermined spots.

Meanwhile, the CMs at the Kilimanjaro Safari itself are running maintenance checks on the vehicles and its computer system.

In short, it really doesn't matter if you're in the first car or the hundredth. The animals do tend to be more active when it is cooler out--meaning the morning during hot months and just about any time during the cooler months.

We have only been to AK once, but on our trip it was pouring rain the day we went and the safari was awesome! We did the safari again on another day when it wasn't raining and the animals were not as active. There may be a correlation there...

Jambo!! I'm a Safari Driver for Kilimanjaro Safaris
Frankly, there truly is no 'best time' to see the animals. Firstly, different species are active at different times of day. Some may be more active early in the morning, while others are active in the late afternoons, etc.
As a side note, I'd also consider wait times as a factor for your Safari. The cue tends to load up very fast first thing in the morning, to as much as a 90-minute wait some mornings, where afternoons can be a walk on. For instance, I have seen folks, at times, returning with their FP in hand, generally not needing them by the time they do come back *shrug*
No two safari's are ever the same. As an example I may see the elephants all gathered right in front of the watering hole, then on the very next round they may be way off in the distance
Don't stress about this, try it any time of day, and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time

thanks for all the imformation about this...I am such a geek... I can not wait to do this attraction so may just have to try it out a different times !!!
