DH has gone an done it. Left a pen in the dryer. Ruined a load of clothes. Now I am afraid to use the dryer as there is black ink everywhere. It wont come off. Any ideas?

If it won't come off it probably won't come off on your clothes in the dryer. Try a trial run with some wet rags and see if anything happens. If the rags are fine, just live with the ugly inside of a dryer! ;)

That happened to me a few months ago. Get a pan of warm water and a couple of magic erasers. I got rid of all of mine in about 10-15 minutes.

I've used hairspray to remove ink and Sharpie marks from a counter top. Maybe, it would work for the dryer.

You don't want to use anything flamable in the dryer.

I suppose that would include rubbing alcohol too? Good thing it didn't happen in my dryer. :rolleyes1

I put a rag with lestoil (not sure if its spelled right) on it and ran it through the dryer when we had red crayon. The rag came out red. I ran another one in without lestoil and it came out clean and from then on no clothes had crayon on them. They will smell like cleaner for a couple of loads so you may want to run your next couple of loads with work or play clothes.

rubbing alchol (?) and a LOT of rubbing did it for me. Good Luck!!!

My Husband used Goof Off on our new dryer to get the ink out :( It was SOOO bad, I tried everything before that.... Anyhow, just don't turn the dryer on until all the fumes are gone.... I swear I never thought the stuff would come out! My DH just said if you have a gas dryer, unplug it before you do it...

To get the ink out of the clothes, I think he might have either used the goof off, or oxy clean on that stuff & it did eventually come out...

UGH, my 12yo just left an ink pen in his pocket, which of course I didn't realize until I was putting his stuff into the dryer. There is ink all over the washer and of course his clothes. I'm making him research how to get it out, but I will read the thread for ideas, too.

Maybe your DH and my son should meet! :rotfl:

My son said that he read that to get the ink out of clothes that you wash the clothes with double the amount of Oxy Clean after letting it soak overnight. So my fun will continue until tomorrow...

This happened to us. We couldnt get out the ink stains in the clothes and scrubbing got it out of the dryer.

I tried the hairspray and it did little good. Thankfully I saw this thread and the Magic Eraser got out most of the ink. There is a little staining, but nothing that will get on the clothes. Now to start working on the clothes. I need to go through each item, pull out the clothes with ink and deal with them later. Then wash the remaining clothes. I sure am glad that I saw the ink before washing the second load--the load of light clothes. The ink would have ruined all those clothes. Nice way to spend my birthday, don't you think?

hair spray will get it out of your dryer and clothes. Just wash it out good after you are finished.

It will also take a good amount of elbow grease. If I had a dollar for every crayon/ink/lipstick stain I have gotten out.. I could take all of us to WDW.

The Magic Eraser worked SO much better than the hairspray with only gentle scrubbing. I'm so glad that I read that here or I still would be working on it (or getting my son to work on it...).
