How to get from the Grand Floridian, Polynesian or Contemporary to Wilderness Lodge

If magic kingdom is open, you can take a boat or bus to WL. There is a boat between Contemporary and WL. But it doesn’t start running until late afternoon. I believe it also stops at Fort Wilderness.

We've always taken the boat at the MK Seven Seas Lagoon docks that goes to the WL ... what Disney calls their "water taxi". Depending on the resort, we've walked to that boat dock from the Contemporary, or taken the monorail (or boat) from the Poly or GF. and then hopped on the WL boat. Its an enjoyable , and fairly quick, ride.

thank you!
From The Poly or GF take the monorail or boat to Magic Kingdom (if you take the boat from GF, it will first go to The Poly), or you can even walk from GF to Magic Kingdom. Once at Magic Kingdom, take a different boat to Wilderness Lodge. From the Contemporary, take an afternoon boat from there directly to Wilderness lodge, or, to go earlier in the day, walk or take the monorail to the Magic Kingdom, and then a boat to Wilderness Lodge.

Monorail to contemporary and take friendship boat. If boats not running you can walk to MK buses for wilderness too. Geyser Point might be my favorite Disney spot!

What do you think is the best way to get there if we have an ECV? Thank you.

Thank you! Is this the case for all the boats from MK or just certain ones?

Sometimes I think they do alternate boats that accommodate ECVs with those that don’t, but with the increasing number of guests using ECVs, if one boat doesn’t, the next one will.

Just certain ones…the smaller boats can’t take ECVs (launches) - only the larger cruisers can accommodate ECVs on the Red Line (MK to WL)…usually every other boat is a cruiser.

If you have an ECV then I would not take the resort boat that travels between WL and CR. Those boats are usually the small motor launches. I would take the boat that travels between MK and WL. Those include the large boat that handles ECVs. The MK boat dock is very close to the resort monorail entrance, which makes it convenient to travel between the monorail resorts and the boats at the MK dock.

I just did this to see decorations. Took bus to MK from AKL. Then walked to Contemp and back over to MK buses and took WL bus. Then took bus from WL to AK park and then bus to AKL from there. It was around 10:30am so no boat at Contemp running then.

We've found that it's most efficient to get to MK bus depot and take the bus from there. I'm not sure that the boats run all day or not, they are small so can be crowded and are less predictable for timing IMO. In fact, when we stay at WL and we want to go to another resort, we go to MK and go to the buses.

I believe that the boat starts running now at 3:00 pm? You can always check at the CR guest services, to be sure of the schedule.

From the CR to WL before 3:00pm (or prior to the direct boat) walk to the MK bus stop and take the bus OR walk a bit further to the MK -WL boat launch and take the boat. After 3:00 pm, take the boat directly from the CR to either Fort Wilderness or WL.

From the Poly or GF take the monorail or boat to the MK. Then go to the boat launch to WL or walk a bit further to the MK bus stop and take the bus to the WL.

these work while the MK is open and has transportation running. If you are travelling later into the wee hours, you may need to take a bus to/from Disney Springs, if it is open later. Or call an Uber/Lyft.

ETA:
OK, just read that you are using an ECV. Some boats will not accommodate an ECV, especially from the Poly and GF to MK., So I recommend that you take the monorail and bus from Poly or GF. From CR, just walk to the MK bus stop and take the bus from there.

Otherwise, you may be waiting for a second boat which can take an unnecessarily long time.
