One evening we will be heading from DTD to Poly (easy), but how do we get back from Poly (to watch fireworks) to our hotel Boardwalk Inn?

Another day we want to leave Boardwalk Inn, travel to Poly in order to see it in the daytime, and then head over to the Grand Floridan to check it out and have tea. Any ideas of how we will manage that?

If MK is still open (or it's transportation is still operating), take the monorail or boat to MK and hop on a bus back to BWI. Otherwise, DTD is the usual evening transfer point, but can take a looonngg time. I'd opt for a taxi in that case.

Bus to MK and monorail or boat to Poly. You can walk from the Poly to GF. Have fun!

How about take the monorail to the TTC, then get on the monorail to Epcot, then it's an easy walk thru Epcot to BW. This will work if you have Park Hoppers.

Second part: Take the bus to Mk, hop on a monorail to Poly, take the monorail from Poly to Grand Floridian.

That's if Epcot is still open (if MK fireworks are late). I would monorail to MK and bus to Boardwalk. If they are at the Poly for fireworks, the busses will still be running from MK. The monorail to TTC and another to Epcot and walking through Epcot could take at least an hour.

I guess it would help if Epcot was still opened... LOL!

Not yet mentioned, but viable if DHS is open, is bus from Poly to DHS, then walk or boat to the BWI. Unlike the Epcot option, this does NOT require a hopper ticket.

No, we don't have park hopper tickets. We are also going in January, so I know parks will probably close a bit earlier. I did read that fireworks for Jan '11 were 8 PM, I am assuming the schedule will be similiar next Jan. If I go to MK, I just get off the bus and wait for the resort bus correct, because it stops outside the park itself? How long do buses operate after park closure? We want to go to Poly at night in order to see fireworks and water pageant. I figure that wll be from 8 to 9:30 or even 10 PM. We are taking cabs from BW to DTD twice so we want to take free transportation as much as possible otherwise. I guess if worse comes to worse, DTD is open to 11 we can always go back there and get the bus back to BW.

EWP runs past Poly between about 9 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. By the time you get back to MK via the Resort Monorail, it could be around 9:45.

Buses from MK stop running when the last guest leaves the park. In January, when attendance is light, if the park closes at 8, the buses may or may not have stopped by 9:45. If the park closes at 9, you should be OK.

If you want to give it a try, and find the MK bus station deserted when you reach it, you can walk to the Contemporary (about 10 minutes) and get a DTD bus there. DTD buses actually run until 2 a.m.

Thanks. It sounds like it might just be a safer bet to grab the bus back to DTD - if it's stil open we can walk around after all and then grab the bus back to BI.

I'm not sure I would go to all that effort to see the water parade. Yes, I like it, but it's not 'all that and a bag of chips' so to speak.
But, if you have no issue with it taking you a bit longer to get back to BWI, then stay and watch the fireworks and the water parade. Then, take the bus to DTD and transfer to the BW bus from there. The buses run to and from DTD late at night, so you won't get stuck.

We are really going to see Wish and if the water pageant isn't far behind, we might as well stay and watch it. We've never seen either.
