How to get from Epcot to Trails End Buffet

I want to go to the Trails End Buffet from Epcot - then back to the Marina at the YC as we have an Illuminations cruse booked.

Could anyone tell me the best way to do this - also how long the journey might take.

There are two ways really.

The first being the longer of the two. Take a bus to the Fort Wilderness Campground. From there, you have to catch another bus from the central terminal to actually get to Trails End.

The other, much faster, option is to take the MonoRail from Epcot to the Magic Kingdom. From there just take the ferry boat to Fort Wilderness. The boat ride takes about 3-5 minutes and Trails End is just across from the dock when you arrive. When you are finished take the boat back to the MK and catch a bus to the YC from there.

As far as time, I imagine the Mono Rail to MK takes about 5-10 minutes and then depending on the line for the boat, another 10, to get to Trails End. And a quick return boat ride and catch your bus. I have no idea how long the wait for the bus would be or how long the ride is to the YC.

This can take a while. We went from Epcot to Trails End one night and with waiting for a bus to take us to FW, then for an internal FW bus to TE, it took like 45 minutes at least. We love trails end but I really think that with going back to the YC, I would just choose an Epcot or Boardwalk resturant for that night.

Plan on at LEAST an hour each way - unless you take a cab ---- and personally, if I had something important with a serious time deadline (like the illuminations cruise) I would plan on closer to 2 hours (or take a cab) ((If you are late, you'll miss your cruise - but still get charged for it)). PLUS - Trails end doesn't take PS, and the last time we went for dinner (April)(Not Easter) we ended up waiting for an hour to be seated (and we arrived at 5:30pm).

Going from Trails end , you could take the boat to the MK (20 minutes to 45 minutes depending on how long you have to wait for the next boat), and from the Mk you could take a bus to the YC (15 minutes to 45 minutes).

From Epcot to Trails end - it's a 20 minute monorail ride to the TTC, then you have to switch monorails for the one to the MK (0 - 15 minute wait), then over to the MK (5 min) , down the ramp to the boat (again 20 - 45 minutes).

Actually - I agree with Jordan's Mom - Love Trail's End --- But can't you do it on another night of your trip??? There must be SOMETHING you'd enjoy at Epcot?

I would recommend going to Trails End either on a day you are at MK or a day you have no other evening plans. To go from from the Epcot are to the MK area & back again would be a lot of traveling. Especially when there are so many good restaurants in Epcot & in the Epcot resorts.

I agree with Motaei. I would consider eating in or close to Epcot, either the World Showcase, Boardwalk, or BeachClub. Even MGM would be closer(boat ride away).

Trail's End is excellent, but I would be worried about the timing and distance. I would hate for you to be stressed about transportation and miss the cruise.

there is also a contemporary/Fw boat so you can take the mono to comtemp which may be shorter than the boat wait at mk, depending on the lines at the dock or walk to contemp from ttc or mk ( never done this but heard it is about a 5 min walk)and do the same boat trip. you could just retrace and walk or boat to yc from epcot. it seems to me the majority of travel time is spent waiting for whatever vehicle so walking might be quickest when you can do so.

Thanks guys - I think I will take the advice and leave Trails End till we are at MK.

So - another dilemma, still looking for a buffet restaurant that we can get to from Epcot and still be back in time for the cruse. It has to be a buffet as 3 of the kids have autism and are very fussy eaters.

Since you will be in the Epcot area, there is the Cape May cafe. I believe they have a Buffet dinner. It is located in the Beach Club.

Its not a buffet and not fancy by any means, but we enjoyed a nice meal at the Electric Umbrella located in Epcot. They had a good selection of sandwiches and burgers.

It might be a nice alternative to a sit down restaurant. Then you can have dessert in the world showcase.

beirgaten in germany is buffet. check out the menu on www.allearsnet.com and see if anything looks good..they had Germany food but also roasted chicken and plain fish, ect when we were there but do not remember them having a "kids only" type mac and cheese section. they do have a short music show if that would bother your kids but you probably could time it to miss the show( think it starts at 15 till the hr?? either that or on the hr, might be confusing morroco and germany )

Garden Grill in Epcot - served family style (brought to the table) - but a pretty good selection of "American" foods-- Plus characters to keep the kids busy. Other thought would be Hollywood & Vine in MGM (If you have Park Hopper tickets) - it's a buffet with a huge selection of foods most kids would like ---you could take a boat from the back entrance of Epcot to MGM, then when done, take the boat right back to the yacht club.

If you want something cheaper - there is the "Sunshine food fair" at The Land in Epcot - it's counter service - but there are like 3 different "shops" to choose from (sandwiches, BBQ, pastaHere's the 3 menus....

Don't let them talk you out of Trails End. First, Fort Wilderness is absolutely one of the most charming, scenic, and peaceful places on Disney property. Second, Trails End is probably the most least expensive and quality buffets at WDW. Go! I promise you you'll enjoy it.

I don't know what the others are all talking about saying it's so hard to get over there. As with all the Disney Resorts, Fort Wilderness has a direct bus too and from all four major parks. All you have to do is catch the Fort Wilderness bus from Epcot and it's shouldn't take more than 25-30 minutes. The bus will drop you off near the petting zoo at Fort Wilderness and it's just a short walk up the path toward Bay Lake. You just go like you are going to Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. It's all in the same building.

Stop in the Trading Post, it's a wonderful gift shop almost right across from Trails End.

If you don't end up going there from Epcot, you should go there from MK. It's just a short boat ride from there. That's what we did last time. I'd never miss a chance to get over to Fort Wilderness since I don't stay there with my parents any more.

sorry if my post about the boat was misleading...we always take the mono. anytime we can just because it's more fun( we kind of view it as another attraction due to our extreme nerdyness)..same with the boats, just offering an option.( plus due to our "gotta ride the monorail "habit,totally "forgot" about the bus from epcot .) but agree...we never miss TE and it isn't any harder to get there than anywhere else, actually as you can see has more optional ways of transit
