Ok so I'm planning my next trip...in Janurary but hey I'm bored. I am going to be staying at least 1-2 nights in a Disney Resort and taking my best friend and her husband who have never been. I really want them to have the towel puppet as a suprise. Soooo what are some ways I may be able to increase my odds? I don't want to ask outright because that kinda takes away the magic.

Maybe if I fold my tip into something creative??? What tips do you have?

(pretty sure this is one of those debate-inspiring topics)

Anyways, I'm pretty sure it depends on the CM, etc...I myself have never gotten one, but I've gotten tons of other great surprises.
Tips are always appreciated, and folding it into oragami sounds like a good idea!-we always leave notes thanking the CMs for keeping our room looking so great, they seem to appreciate that!
I don't think there is any proven method to getting them, I think it's all luck of the draw!

Hi luvdisney81,

We didn't get an towel animal during our stay but when we came back to our room someone from Mousekeeping had taken my kid's beanie babies and lined them up on the bed and they were watching -- what else but the Disney Channel!!! One of them was even wearing my husband's sunglasses. It was so cute and such a nice surprise.

So, if you have any Disney stuffed animals make sure you leave them out where they can be seen and who knows what might happen. ;)

I'm going to say its luck of the draw also, when I stayed at POFQ last week I would walk by lots of rooms with the stuffed animals all looking out the windows with some towel critters with them and then walk by the next group of 10-15 rooms and not see any.

We lucked out and our maid would leave them in our room.

I must be real luck, because I have gotten a towel animal every night of every trip I have ever done to WDW

I am of course a BIG tipper

I have taken one or two.

Spray them with STARTCH and they will retain their shape for years to come

left one every nite...everyone had a different character and a thank you..along with our name and room # and date..apparently the staff loved them as we found 'surprises' every day when we came back the entire 2 week trip!...we had beanies lined up in windows..."goofy" sitting up in the bed (that one almost scared me to death at first..the tv was on..the lights were one..and it looked liked someone was sitting up in the bed")!...towel puppets, all kinds of surprises..the last morning..WE got a thank you note..from the mousekeeping person!..have a great trip!

Honestly, if it's that important to you, I would learn to make them myself. You could sneak back into the room and do it sometime during the day, if the mousekeeper doesn't do it for you. We've stayed at many resorts and we always tip well and use cute little envelopes. Sometimes we get lots of towel animals, sometimes we don't get any. It just depends on the mousekeeper.

Just as an FYI, we have NEVER (in over 10 years of WDW visits) had a towel animal in our room. EVER. Do not expect this. It is a special little thing that just happens sometimes.

However, on the DCL cruise, our room steward made something creative every night.

I am NOT IN ANY WAY COMPLAINING!!!
It's just the luck of the draw.
