How To Eat and Instagram around the World! An August 2012 DxDDP Report

We love the HRH, the location cannot be beat! I am glad to see some reviews of the food for US. I looove Butterbeer too!

That corned beef on a pretzel roll looks amazing. We've got to head to Universal one of these days.

Mmmmm ur description of the butter beer sounds delish!!
Too bad there will be no Universal this trip. But I like ur reviews!!:thumbsup2
I did not know Universal has a night time show. Was it any good?

We absolutely love HRH! It's such a great hotel, we love the atmosphere at the pool as well!

David enjoys it quite a bit! I definitely recommend Universal, but if it's only going to be on the parks, go to Islands of Adventure first!

Looking good!!

Thanks :)

Great reviews so far! That crepe sounds amazing!

Can't wait for the WDW portion!

Thanks! It was great, really different!

Butterbeer is amazing! The nighttime show was supposed to be similar to World of Color so they used different color water spouts and a giant water screen (a la Fantasmic) to show Universal shows and movies. It was entertaining, but no where near as great as Disney night time shows. We both felt the same afterwards, all it did was make us wish we could see World of Color

Your lineup of restaurants is awesome, I'm def in!! :goodvibes I'm a huge HP fan so I dragged my DH to US and IoA back in January and we had a great time. Ok ok, I had a great time, hubby just sucked it up and dealt with it :lmao: The butterbeer was amazing, I loved it! I still have my mug at home :goodvibes We didn't eat at Universal but after seeing that corned beef sandwich on a pretzel roll I wish we would have, I'll have to remember that for the next time we get over that way. Your first review was great, looking forward to more!! :)

Day 3, August 19th 2012 - Disney World!

Time for disney! Get up! Get up! Here are today's Instagram pics!

We checked in to The Boardwalk, got our fancy new RFID Key to the world cards (boy we had fun with these) and headed out to Magic Kingdom! We had lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, a first for both of us!

We were seated right away (A trend through out the trip, except for one restaurant)

I had a Pomegranate Lemonade - my drink of choice until I realized the restaurants with bars could get me Cherry Sprites (Shirley Temple) then I was all about that! I love the mugs they serve

David started off with the Tavern Cheese (Mozarella Sticks)

IMG_1430.jpg

These were generic, and I've had them better at TGI Friday's. They were good, just nothing special

I've never had clam chowder before, so I went with that. I liked it, but I enjoyed the mozzarella sticks more.

I was looking forward to the Pot Roast!

IMG_1432.jpg

Mushrooms are an "oh no no" food for me, and it had bits of mushrooms in this, but since I couldn't see them, It was okay :rotfl: I really enjoyed this, although it was salty (But it's pot roast...) and had a slight bite from the pepper in the gravy. Overall very delicious and recommended!

David chose Freedom Pasta "Fusilli pasta with sauteed chicken, season vegetables, and mushrooms tossed in a cream sauce"

IMG_1433.jpg

He ordered it without veggies and mushrooms. He really liked it! He said the sauce didn't have much flavor and the flavor mostly came from the chicken.

For dessert I ordered Johnny's Appleseed Cake "Tavern-made white cake filled with apples and craisins, Dried Cranberries, topped with ice cream"

IMG_1438.jpg

The only part of this I didn't absolutely enjoy were the craisins! Very good!

David had his eye set on the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake as soon as we made this reservation!

IMG_1437.jpg

This was soo good! Very chocolatey (More so than tofee--ey?)

Consensus: Food was good, we would try somewhere different next time, but we wouldn't hesitate to return if it worked well with our plans. We would not go out of or way to eat here

Spent the afternoon at Magic Kingdom, became completely addicted to Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom cards, and then headed home for a break. We had dinner at David's favorite restaurant Raglan Road!

We waited a bit here, then got seated at the restaurants best table! It was two cozy chairs in front of a fireplace! We were congratulated on our good fortune o this table, and were the envy of the entire restaurant. It was so amazing, I didn't want to leave!

IMG_1453.jpg

David didn't see anything he liked on the appetizer menu so we used both our App credits so I could get the Scallop Forest "George Bank scallops in a golden batter served with a citrus lime dipping sauce and sweet chili jam"

IMG_1457.jpg

They were delicious! I'm usually not a fan of beer battered items, but these were so good! I loved the Sweet chile sauce!

The other reason David didn't order an appetizer is because his favorite item in Raglan Road is their Irish Soda Bread with Guiness Reduction Sauce!

IMG_1455.jpg

IMG_1456.jpg

This dipping sauce is amazing! It's so sweet and yummy, that we had to keep asking for more!

For dinner, I ordered the King Cod "Lemon parsley crusted cod with leak fondue, butter beans and a citrus white wine sauce"

IMG_1458.jpg

UH-MA-ZING. I loved this! I asked for garlic parmesan fries on the side instead of what it came with.

IMG_1460.jpg

The fries were just okay. I didn't eat many of them.

David ordered his usual, Serious Sirloin

IMG_1459.jpg

David says: Very good, it has a light citrus flavor!

Dessert time! Now I should have mentioned this earlier, but I'm not a huge desserts person. Just as David could give up an appetizer with ease, I could do the same with Dessert. So nothing on the Dessert menu appealed to me (remember I have a texture problem with most frostings and creams) So I asked if I could just get something like fruit with a side of chocolate for dipping. Since they had something described as "fresh fruit basket with natural yogurt and a honey drizzle" It was not a problem, and I was in heaven! My favorite dessert is Chocolate covered strawberries!

IMG_1462.jpg

David ordered Trifle Sinful "kitchen baked Swiss roll, Gran Marnier, berries, custard and cream

IMG_1463.jpg

He says this was good except for the tasteless whipped cream so he had to push it to the side!

Raglan Road, we love you! We will definitely return!
