How to dress in November

We are going to WDW the Tuesday before Thanksgiving  and returning home the following Monday.

I am in the process of planning the packing strategy but I am not sure what type of clothing to pack for that time of year. Do I pack shorts or a combination of pants/capris and shorts?
I would love some packing advice so I can start planning the family packing. Also, we will be spending Thanksgiving day at MK; breakfast at 1900 Park and dinner at the castle, do people typically dress a little better than jeans and tops or is it still pretty casual that day as well?

Thanks so much :)

Subbing!

I'm going the exact same days as you, mimmie! I'm not sure how to dress either!

Mimmie, where are you staying? I was initially going to spend T-day at MK, but I read it is terribly crowded, so we will be at AK. Will you have a LGMH? I will- I'm working on it now. I will be at CSR!

Kristin

We were there the same week two years ago. Pack swimsuits (*** the pools are heated), shorts and tees for daytime, jeans and a light jacket for evenings. Don't forget the raincoats!

Have a great time!

thanks for the info.... I am leaving on the 7th of November and returning on the 11th... I am starting to pack and you have given me some good ideas.

We will be staying at Wilderness Lodge. I can't wait! I have also heard that the MK is extremely crowded on Thanksgiving day but we plan on having breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and dinner in the castle so we will just enjoy the day in between and do what we can.

What does LGMH mean and what is it (just in case it is something that I need to be doing)

Mimmie

Mimmie, LGMH stands for Lime Green Mickey Head. It is the symbol for the DIS. People wear them to the parks, so others know they are DISers. You can make your own Lime Green Mickey Head or pick up the Alien Green paint sample at Home Depot that is shapped like MIckey. I am going to add a Santa Hat to mine!

Have fun at the WL! I'd love to stay there, but it will be less spur-of-the-moment trip where we can save longer!

We love the weather at WDW in November!
We usually wear jeans or capris (although last year, we were in shorts) and short sleeves. You will need a light jacket for early morning and evening, because it does cool off when the sun goes down. We have been able to swim, so you can pack your suits. The only time that we have had rain during a Thanksgiving trip, was while we were waiting for a parade to start and it was quick and pretty light...
Of course, it can always rain (and it did snow in 2006), so I just look at the 10 day weather report before we go and pack accordingly...
Have fun! :goodvibes

We went in November 2006 (the week before Thanksgiving) and swam each day. DW did need a sweatshirt for some evenings and I even wish I had one at California Grill outside watching fireworks from the rooftop, but beyond that we were fine. Definitely pack one it could get chilly at night and if you usually get cold make sure you have pants as well, but you probably will anyway since you are leaving NY in November. We wore shorts and short sleeves each day. It rained for a bit one morning, but other than that we didn't have any rain, so I wouldn't pack a raincoat for each of you. Just hang out or a windbreaker/sweatshirt would be enough. Think late September in the Northeast/New England (although a few days actually hit 80s) and it is about what you would get weatherwise.

Sounds like capris and tops (long and short sleeve) should work with a hoodie or two for the evening. Thanks so much for the info. I can't wait to get there!!

Pack a little of everything. I go every Thanksgiving week for the last 13 years. The weather is usually nice enough for shorts but there has been a couple of times when I needed a coat.

I usually do the layering thing. Especially if I leave my condo early in the morning and return late at night.

Hope this helps.

I am going the Thursday before Thanksgiving, coming home the following Tuesday. We will be down there some of the days you will! Keep an eye out for the LGMH!!!!

I'm going like a week before you! :-) Bring clothes for ALL possible weather ... with the exception of snow! :-) Should be mild ... like a new england late spring but you never know. You could get HOT weather of very COOL weather. Dry or wet ... be ready for everything but hope for the best! :-) When i get there I'll tell Mickey to expect you the following week! :-)

I'm going to be there Nov. 15-19. not nearly long enough but all I can do now.
I'm hoping for low crowd levels. What do you think?

I'm really looking forward to this trip. My 21 yr old grandson is going with me. I have taken him 7 or 8 times from age 3. I am going to look at old pics of him and take new ones at the same places and compare the differences in him & the parks. He loves WDW almost as much as me:cool1:

I'll be there from the 15th to the 21st ... see you there! ;) Oh and the crowds should be reasonable.

OH for the person asking about the weather ... check the 10 day advanced forcast on the weatherchannel.com or one of those weather computer sites. They aren't always correct but it'll give you a good guess what you'll be in for weather wise. :surfweb:

This thread has been really helpful! We leave in two weeks, and we didnt know where to begin!

we will be at CSr 27th-2nd We will be at AK for t'giving too.

My sister in law was at Disney last November right after Thanksgiving and she said they never went swimming once! I'm not sure if it was actually because of the weather though. She did say they mostly wore shorts and t-shirts. They never used the jeans and sweatshirts they packed.

We went in Nov 2006. Arrived the day after the snow. My kid still hasn't seen snow!! We take shorts to jeans and jackets. This year we have lots of Disney tees from Disney store sales. I've got to get a LGMH for my bookbag!!

I was there last year mid November. It started out nice and then a cold spell hit. We had to buy gloves at the park since we weren't prepared. We are going the same time again and we are planning ahead by bringing scarf, mittens, and jacket.
