Hello everyone...I am wondering how you have all dealt with the "buy me this....buy me that...I want this...I want that....and NOW ! ...situation with children at DLRP ? I think that we grow ups are the first ones that want to buy something at DLRP...we suddenly all become kids...So...any tips that families have come up with in how to deal with the shopping and not go broke.
Should I just allow the girls ( 4 and 6 yrs) to buy ONE ( not so expensive ) item per day...and maybe the last day just buy what ever I they want ( always trying not to buy too much)...

Thanks in advance !!

We gave the troops a budget and purse/wallet each. DS would have spent it all on the first day and in the first shop we hit in the Village. But we knew he would want some things from Frontierland. Both DD's angst over what to buy and how much money that would leave them. What if they saw something the next day. Therefore it had the desired effect :goodvibes We also agreed that we would have a shopping day at the end of the holiday and apart from sale items spend most of the money then :goodvibes

It sure is a great idea !! Maybe I could give each daughter about €20 (?) and even if the youngest one ( 4 yrs) has no idea...will begin to understand the value of money. Or even make up some Disney 1 € bills for them to "redeem" from me !
For my 6 yrs old one, it would be a great beginning..that way they will understand that money does not grow on trees or comes out of the ATM machine just like that ! I could always buy at the end whatver else that has not been bought.
Do all the shops have more or less the same things ?
Do they have Disney Euros...like they do in WDW..where they have Disney Dollars ? I have not read anywhere about that...just curious.

Thanks again for the tip !!

we give a certain amount on holiday and he makes the decisions what to buy. We obviously try and "guide" him, but ultimately if you go down this route they have to make their own mistakes!

It works ok though. For a two week holiday to wdw we usually give him $50. I think for a few days to DLRP it will probably be £20 or something like that.

He can spend it all on the first day .. or a little everyday.. but thats the end of the money once it has gone (of course except for the stuff I want to buy him!)

I'm going with 2 young girls in a couple of months and I intend to let them choose one small thing each day and then they can choose something at the end.... if they've been good of course! :rotfl:

To be honest, they very rarely ask for things. We let them pick anything up but then we always say "right time to put it back" and they always do.

I never just buy them things - it's only birthday's and Christmas so they don't know any different - am I mean or what? :confused3

Some items you'll find throughout the park and village whereas in other areas the merchandise suits the theme eg. cowboy stuff in Frontierland

They don't do Disney Dollars or Euros, but you could always make your own for some toy money and then trade it for the real thing when you want to buy something :)

What I would like to ask is how you cope if you are 42 years old and suddenly find yourself in a shop with too much stuff you just have to buy.

:badpc: :badpc: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :dance3: I can never choose and end up like a kid in a candy store.

You're right...If it will be difficult for me...I can't imagine what it will be for them !! I think I will probably let them pick one item per day ( withing reasonable limits)..it's fair to let them enjoy this Christmas trip as most as possible.
It's easy to talk about all the pre planning things..but once we are there the "magic" begins and we are chidlren !

We have a buget and I buy extras as I fancy. These are described as extras.
My 2 are older but I think the idea of a budget does what others have described as a lot of children think money falls out of the sky.

We let Our DD (3 the first time - 4 on her second visit) buy one toy on the first night/day and then we bought little things as we saw them (and kept them for Christmas) and let her chose another thing on the last day.

We did the same with our DD (4 years old).

She is now convinced that Santa Claus must have been following us round DLP making a note of all the things she liked

I've got a list of CDs I want to buy and I shall get them the first day but then I don't think i'll do any shopping until the last day - save me running out of cash too early!
