How to convince your wife you need a new camera body?

It's early in the morning in Oz and I can be a bit dyslexic sometimes.....for a minute I thought I had read the heading to be:

How to convince your camera that you need a new wife body.

Why don't you tell her that is what you want for your birthday and Christmas present this year?

OK........ I'm going to go out on a limb here and say......... the surest way NOT to get a new camera.........

................... is to tell her you want HER to get a new body! :rotfl2:

Try this approach:

I'm buying that $1,000 camera body, now get in the kitchen and bake me a pie!!

After you are released from the hospital, she may feel so guilty she will let you but it :lmao:

Bwhahahahahha

Yeah she may feel guilty about putting me in the Hospital. Than again, maybe not. Thanks everyone for your input, I will try some different things and let everyone know how it works out!

One more thought. Since you have the kit lens from your Xsi, then be sure to look for the best deal on the T2i body only. Or find one that's bundled with the 18-135 kit lens so you get more reach on your walk-around lens.

If none of that works, then consider the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens. The 50mm f/1.8 is cheaper, but the 1.4 will get you one stop more light for the dark rides, and to 30mm length was just a better width in my own opinion.

Really, I didn't start feeling successful with the dark rides until I had a combination of the higher ISO AND the faster lens. But either alone will be much be FAR better than using just the kit lens.

Don't know how much you could get for that Xsi, but maybe look into selling it. If anything, show her on eBay how much you could maybe get... Tell her you want the newer camera, and eventually selling the old one will factor into help paying for the new one.... Also mention how you'll now have video (another perk).... And go from there. Just be sure to get the new camera before sellin the old one. You don't wanna be totally empty-handed.

Wish I could help. My wife is always gracious about. I start telling her all about a new camera or lens and she tells me to get it if I want it. She's good that way.

Careful you save that one, and only use that one time you really need it.

Doesn't work anymore. Eventually they figure out you really never intended on selling anything. :(

Well, maybe they are newlyweds and the wife doesn't KNOW yet??? :rotfl2:

Besides........ everyone needs a BACKUP camera! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: Well my camera just broke.

I wish had I had the problem of trying to figure out how to buy just one camera!! The DW is also a photographer so I usually end up buying two of everything! I have to have double the cash on hand because inevitably its going to cost me twice.:rotfl2:

Bring printouts of the specs and go to it in detail on what exactly makes this camera so awesome over your old one until her eyes glaze over. Eventually she'll tell you to get the camera just to shut you up.

Thats my usual tactic, but this time I tried the bait and switch (hi price first, then offer the lower one) and that was shut down. My next plan is to buy her a few things for the house and try again. I will keep everyone posted...

Every woman loves a good deal. I, too, have been looking to buy the T2i and right now,the body only, at Sears.com is $629.10 Much better than $900.00:cool1:

Or you could purchase a refurb directly from Canon the T2i body goes for $559.99. :thumbsup2
