Hello! We're going to be at PC from 10/19 - 10/28 - my DH, DS9, DH4 and me. My DS9 turns 10 on 10/29.

I would really like to be able to celebrate some of his birthday while we're down there. I read that some people get a button and wear it around the park - some for their entire trip and others only on their birthday.

What should we do? Is it dishonest to get a button from each park on the day we go even if it isn't his official birthday? I would really love to make this a memorable trip for him before he's too old!

I did make a reservation at HDDR for 10/24 and let them know that we were celebrating his birthday, but do anything in the parks???

We'll also be at MNSSHP on 10/23 - the pirate family. pirate:

Thanks for any help!!!

I'm so excited! :cheer2:

We celebrated my DS's 10 BD two years ago at WDW. His actual BD we were at the MK and he had a great, great, time. Many CM's go out of their way to make the day special as well as other guests in the parks. My DS is not one for attention, but he loved it anyway. The highlight was when the Barbershop Quartet sang Happy Birthday to him on Main Street and our lunch at Crystal Palace. He also got BD buttons at other parks on other days and had a Birthday Celebration Week. He received free dessert at several TS meals.
You can plan some special things, but let the magic happen spontaneously and it will be memorable! Yes, it is very exciting! :)

I won't comment on what you should do... too many debates about whether celebrating an event on another date is okay or not. Honestly I don't know what I would do.

I would leave a word of caution though: so many people are celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, etc. that it is great if you receive special treatment, but I would not go to WDW expecting it. Your DS may wear a pin and hear "happy birthday" from the CMs but that may be it. Anything else would be icing on the cake. Pardon the pun. ;)

I would just hate for you and DS to be disappointed! Focus on making magic for your DS on this trip -- and it sounds like you already are -- and have a great time, special treats or not! :yay:

My nephew celebrated bdays # 9 & 11 at WDW. I wasn't there when he celebrated # 9. For # 11 he had the pin. I only heard one CM say something. The pin is a nice idea.

We celebrated DS9's birthday there last year (8th) and he loved it! We let him decide and he wanted to go to the Lego store at DD! We let him pick out his gifts, but I think his favorite part was building legos with his dad! We met my parents and daughters at MK, rode some rides and went to WCC for an early dinner - he enjoyed the attention from the waiter, but was very embarassed when all the girls in the restaurant came to sing Happy Birthday to him! He loved it though and still talks about it! I agree with the other poster - don't expect things to happen, just have fun and it will be a memorable day! (BTW, it was my BD the day before and we did get an extra ride on Soarin' - on the front row! Other than that, a lot of well-wishing! We both had a great time!)

We are going back for his sister's 8th birthday in January and I am trying to come up with someplace special for her - maybe Ohanas. The character meals get so crowded these days that they are hard to enjoy, but I think she'd like Ohanas. Still thinkin'.....

We just celebrated DD's 5th birthday at WDW - PC. When you check into PC let them know you will be celebrating. I asked them if they could have the automated birthday call come to the room. They said, they send balloons and a birthday card to the room and asked for her favorite character. My DM's birthday is 4 days before my DD's and she was there too in a separate room, so they asked for her favorite character too. The next day when we came back there were balloons and a card for each of them in their rooms. (BTW, there is no tink card, mickey came instead) AND - later in the week we had a voicemail from Mickey and Minnie wishing happy birthdays!

They both got Birthday buttons from all the parks that they visited. My DD wore all of them on her real birthday on her lanyard. On other days, she wore one that said "congratulations" that a CM at MGM gave to her. At each park, we explained that it wasn't her 'real' birthday, but that her birthday was to be that friday, and they ALL said that it doesn't matter as long as you are celebrating, and that there is no better place to be to celebrate your b-day. One said she likes to celebrate her entire birthday month! ;)

When she wore her button we had a few castmembers call Goofy and have him wish a happy b'day. Also, we really liked going from country to country in EPCOT. The kidcot centers all wrote happy birthday in their own language on the mask. That was incredible. Especially when the man in Morrocco said Happy Birthday Sarah! She was stunned. BUT, he could read it on the mask in his native language!

Have a magical trip!

Thanks for your thoughts everyone!

I wasn't necessarily expecting anything special, and I haven't even told my son about the buttons but wanted to get a feel for what other people have done.

Thanks for the info from Patsfan7 about it not mattering if it was the actual birthday as long as you were celebrating. I feel much better knowing that.

Now off to prepare for a rummage sale in the snow and then pack for our departure next Thursday. What was I thinking????? :confused3
