If i book a reservation thru AAA and then also book a room only reservation with a AAA discount thru Disney directly, can i just monitor both until the weeks leading up to my trip to see what codes/discounts come up to give me the best rate? Will I be able to get my deposit back on the one i end up cancelling?

so confused about how to do this?

you can do room only through disney with no deposit and cancel later. Im not sure for AAA. They don't release codes that late generally though. A code released that late would be for a later date, not one the next week so unless you were willing to change your month of travel it is unlikely holding onto them that late would save you any money.

If you book a room only (you must pay the first night as a deposit), you can cancel up to 5 days prior to get all of your money back. It is alot different on a package. Usually discounts come out about 2-4 months prior to the month of your trip. What are your dates? I might be better able to answer the question, if i knew your dates.

Ah, you will be arriving when I am leaving, we will be there April 30- May 3. Yes, I checked yesterday and it seems that the discounts should be coming out soon. Some were released for that time period in Jan, Feb, and March. Packages deals for General Public were released on Jan 11, 2007; AP rates were released on Feb 21, 2007; FL resident were released on Feb 22, 2007; and General Public room-only and packages were released on March 8, 2007. from my experience, they are usually released around the same time each year.

I would go ahead and price out a package with AAA, call Disney directly and price a room-only with AAA and see which is better, depending on if you want a package or not. We decided to get AP's sice we had 3 trips booked for the next year, so we ended up saving quite a bit of money not having to buy tickets on each trip. We were able to get a discount on those AP's from the GA AAA office, then saved another $623 by not having to buy tickets on our December 2008 package, plus whatever savings of not having to buy tickets for December 2007 and May 2008, and possibly August 2008.

If you would like you can PM me for more detailed info.
