How to attach Mickey tree topper?

Hello,

I can't believe I have such a dumb question, but I just bought a new silver "hidden mickey" star tree topper at Disneyland, but I can figure out how it is supposed to stay up on the tree. It has a spiral, cone-shaped base, but the branch at the top of my tree is like a thin stick and if I put the star on top, it just tips one way or another. There is no way to get it straight. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

I have the same one! :) Haven't used it yet though... hmm... perhaps you can reinforce the small branch at the top by securing a wooden dowel rod (or something similar) to it. Use those twisty tie things and attach the rod to the backside of the branch, making sure it is long enough to be secured to a sturdier section of the tree. Then put the topper on!

Hope that helps! :)

I have an angel with a cone base and I took a styrofoam ring and cut a small hole in the center of the ring. I stuck the foam in the cone and ran the top of the tree in the hole. It works pretty well.

Double over the very top twig (they're usually fairly flexible) and secure with sandwish bag ties

Thanks for all the great ideas. After I posted the question, I decided to play around with it some more and I ended up sticking some tissues into the cone area to fill it in, and it is on straight now. I covered up the base with some garland, which isn't perfect, but it works pretty well.

The top branch of my tree is really stiff, so I couldn't bend it... maybe these toppers work better for artificial trees? Anyway, thanks for the responses :)

I think this is the same tree topper that we bought last year, We do have a fake tree and had to stick more than one branch into the cone.
