How to add a little Disney Magic to a Mom/Daughter WDW Weekend?

My mom and I will be spending the day at MK and possibly a night at one of the hotels (Probably Port Orleans or the Polynesian). I'd love to surprise her with something like a mini cake or chocolate covered strawberries when we get to our room or if we eat at one of the nicer restaurants in MK. I was wondering if any of you had a better idea? I'd like to stay under $30.
Also, if we stay at the Port Orleans, will it cost extra to have a mini cake delivered from the Boardwalk's bakery? I won't be able to pick it up.

There is Cinderella slipper made of chocolate and has chocolate mouse and rasberries (i think) on a plate and you can add a small message in chocalte syrup on the plate...It may be in the cake chatter thread...It was really cheap, like $12.99or something but looked pretty fance and delicious...The number to order is (407) 827 2253...I saved it on my phone to order it for my daughter when we go to CRT...here were pictures and descriptions on the boards somewhere...Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!

This is a great idea, and will be following this thread as I may do the same thing! :)
Just an FYI - I thought I read that the Boardwalk Bakery was closing for refurb for about 6 weeks starting last week?

My DD13 and I always try to schedule afternoon tea at the Grand Floridians Garden View Lounge.

I really like this idea - it's what I would do with my mom if we took a WDW trip together. Originally I was thinking "pedicures" but that would be way above your $30 limit. Not sure of the cost of tea for two people, but I bet you could do it for around $20 pp.

My mom and I go together (as two adults, in our late 20s and late 50s) every year to celebrate her birthday. We make it special by decorating the room together. It started a few years ago when I surprised her with a Department 56 house - Minnie's pie shop. I had bought a couple of the other little characters and set up a snow scene (this was in February).

We've since moved on to planning hte decorations together, and now we're on to the Disney Princess Barbies. My mom in particular loves to move them around the room, much like folks do with the Christmas Elf on a Shelf, and then we'll photograph them in various scenes (like "we're having a party!" and send them back as cute mementos to our family back at home ... our DHs have learned to just laugh and roll with the amount of Barbie photos that get sent to their cell phones! :-P Seriously, though, it's fun and cute and very cheap ... and for us, totally sets the mood!

This is so cute! I'd love to do something like this, but unfortunately my mom isn't the "Yay We're at Disney!" type (like myself! :) ) She'd probably see it as an inconvenience somehow. I've been looking at the cinderella slipper dessert, and I think thats what I might go with. She loves angel food cake!

Does anybody know what moderate resorts offer in-room dining?
