I am not sure if I have seen this before, so I thought I would post it. I never knew you could add a new friend to your friend's list, when you already had a wait list. This is the main reason I never kept a waiting list. But recently I decided to keep a waiting list, and I needed to delete someone's old title and add their new title. But how would I do this with a waiting list?

Well, I was able to do it like this...

1. I had a waiting list, so my other friend needed to send me a request.
2. I viewed that friend's request (so I saw it on top), and then clicked on messages to view any messages (even if there were none)...
3. I clicked back to my friend's list, which now showed all my friends who were on.
4. I deleted my friend's old title
5. I clicked "show friend requests" (it should still show the same friend I wanted to add, on top)
6. I clicked to add the friend I wanted to, from an entire waiting list.

I have only done this once, and it worked. Soooo, if anyone would like to confirm this please do and let us know. Wouldn't it be great if we could choose someone from a long waiting list to add to our friend's list? Woot!

Good luck!

Days

EDIT:

I had always thought an easier way to show friend requests, would be to show it just like our friends list is now -- a list of names, and accept/delete buttons below (OK, Cancel, & Ignore work fine). When you click on the friends name to highlight it, you would see their information below (just as on the friends list), and either accept them or delete them. I think this would make it easier for us to scroll through and see all the names on our waiting list, before we decide which one to add.

Here is my idea, designed by myself and my kid, MonkeyRulz. :)

Yup I have done the same thing. I didn't know either you could do it till the other day I had the same kind of situation, I needed to delete an old title for a new one. I think I did it the same you suggested and it worked for me. I still have the waiting list and the old title is gone and the new one added.

Yes this works great! We do it all the time. Another way to do it is delete the person's old title first, then you ask them to be friend. This only works if they have not asked you yet. If someone asks you to be friend and then you ask them yours will not show up to them. We asked Yavn why that was and did not really get an explanation. Slinkyman did an edit that he submitted to yavn that was an idea to help make it easier for us to scroll through our friend requests. Here is a picture of the edit:

This would be such a handy addition to VMK.

If you have already filled up your friend's list, you cannot send someone a friend request. :( I have wondered for a long time, why we cannot sort through our friends lists -- hopefully they will allow us to add more friends and sort through them one day.

That is EXACTLY how you do it. You MUST add the first title you come to, so you pre-set it to make sure the person you want to add is the first title you will come to when pulling up "waiting list."

Well done Days. :)

I never knew how to do this! Thanks for the info.

I was also wondering why we can't send friend requests but we can still receive them while our list is full?
It just doesn't make any sense

That would be so much EASIER!

I guess I'm the only one not following this. :confused3 What happens if you have a friend you want to add that is in the middle of your pack of requests? How do you get to that request without deleting all the ones ahead of him/her first?

You click to okay to all the requests ahead of the person you want to add till you get to the one you want this just puts all those requests at the back of the line. Then you click over to the messages tab and back to the friends tab. Once back at the friends list you can delete the old title and reclick the requests tab and the request that will be first is the one where you stopped, it does not restart the whole list again. This only works if your list is full and you are keeping requests to add when spots come up. One flaw in this method which did happen to me the first time I did this is if someone deleted you from their list and you don't know it. When you start to scroll through your list and you start clicking to add so the requests are saved if someone had deleted you the first person on your waiting list will be added to your list. Hope this makes sense Pink :)

Hi,

Makes sense to me as I have had to do this many times. There are really only those 2 ways to do it. I really wish they would increase our list size. Don't know why they are so reluctant to do it. It also takes longer for you to load when you first log in if you have a lot of requests. Ink has a huge friend request list and he can't move or do anything until it finishes loading. I often wonder if that attributes to lag. I also wish there was a way to add someone for short term. How many of us have been helping a guest on quests or showing them around the kingdom and have the issue that they can't follow you unless you add them. Makes it very difficult.

Heh..."Friends," and "Temp Friends"... Works for me...

Are you getting all of this Yavn? ;)

Yes! I had this happen and didn't realize that someone on my waiting list had been added to my friends list automatically -- in this case I did not get to choose which friend to add.

Added image idea to my first post. :)

Wow... I like the whole idea of having the friend requests in a list. Recently, I accidentally deleted a friend request from someone whose request I actually would have accepted. I just flew through the requests, hitting the delete button and didn't realize who I had deleted until their request was gone :(. If the requests were in list form, that wouldn't have happened.

I found that there is one drawback clicking "OK" thriough the waiting
list of friends not yet added.

If for some reason, a friend of yours is dropped from the list (because of
the 6 month rule or they deleted you), if you click "OK", the FIRST person
who happened to be on top of the waiting list gets added...and that's
not necessarily the oldest request sent!

This recently happened to me, as a friend deleted me. I didn't know this
happened at the time, and I had scrolled through the waiting list to weed
out the requests of players who sent requests without talking to
me
. So, when I hit "OK", it added someone newer on the wait list
I did not want to add (to be fair to those waiting longer).

I was stuck with a dilemma. Do I delete this person to make room for
someone waiting longer, or do I just let him on first because of poor list
organization? (I kept him on. It wasn't his fault that he got added first.)

When I deliberate want to add someone, I do scroll to their place on my
waiting list, then toggle to the list of names, delete the old name, then
toggle back to click "OK". It's always worked for me fine when I was in
control of the adding.

I do wish we did have the power to turn off friend requests as we do trade
requests, or at LEAST give the person sending the request the SAME
bounce-back message I get telling me my list is full when I first
discovered I couldn't add more friends. :headache:

I don't know how how many friends would overload the system. Maybe
150 friends is the highest limit that won't crash things?

More thoughts & ideas from MonkeyRulz...

The Friend Request list does not have to show whether these potential friends are online at the moment, in which case none of them would be highlighted. But, a good thing about them showing this information would be, that you could see the last time this potential friend was logged in. If they haven't logged in for a long time, you may not want to add them -- maybe they have since changed their title or have made another character. Just an idea. :)

Also, just wondering...what if you have a friend request waiting, and before you have the chance to add them, their title has been changed? How is that handled now? Does this person's new title show up once you've added them? :confused3

This is what I had said happened to me -- only I wasn't aware that someone was automatically removed... once I clicked that "OK," without knowing, I had already added an awaiting friend. :goodvibes

120 Friend Requests WOW!

120 Friend Requests WOW!

:rotfl2: That is nothing Ink is well over 1000 and has to wait for the requests to load each time he logs on. Have no idea why he has kept so many. I told him time to go through them which is not a fun task. We need larger lists!
