How strong is the current on the Mickey slide?

DS is nearing 4 and is average size for his age, but the force of the water on the pool at our club flips him over so that he ends up face first! I let him try it out a couple of times last summer before realizing what was happening and from that point on he had to slide with an adult.

I know that adults aren't allowed on the Mickey pool slide, so my hope is that they keep the flow low. Does anyone know?

My DGD did not have a problem. It did not seem that fast or powerful :boat:

the mickey pool is actually designed for little ones. DCL will not risk the liability on a fast water slide so your 4 year old should be okay. My son is a tiny 4 1/2 year old and he couldn't get enough of that slide. you'll be okay! there's also a CM at the top to make sure that the last slider is safely off the bottom before she lets another go.

My DS5 also loved the slide. He didn't even mind the line that sometimes formed - he enjoyed chatting with his friends in the line. Don't worry about it being too fast - my son said you have to push yourself to get started.

Thanks for the info-- It sounds like we'll be spending a lot of time around the pool on this cruise! :smooth:

Is there height requirements on the slide? What is too short and what is too tall? I have a 5 and 7 year old

I also have questions about the Mickey and Goofy pools:

From DD5:
How deep are the pools?

From DS9:
Is the pool too crowded to swim laps?

From DH:
It says on the DCL website that there are no lifeguards stationed at the pools, but others have referenced lifeguards in their posts. Are there lifeguards at the pools?

TIA!

TO DS. Mickey pools..I think 2 feet..Goofy pools..about 5 feet

TO DD: Pool not big enough to do swim lap...It is small!!

TO DH: no lifeguards..Except one by the Mickey slide. Once LG leaves, slide is close, but pool still open until around midnight.

Does anyone know the age limit or the height limit for the Mickey slide?

Kids must be between the ages of 4 and 14 and between 32 and 64 inches tall.

THanks for all the info! my dd's will be thrilled. They are too little to do the slides at our aquatic centers.

Are life jackets/swimmies allowed in the pools? My little one just turned 4 and does not swim yet!

A word of advice about the Mickey slide. The Lifeguards do not mind the kids on the slide. On my last cruise my daughter was 10 and went down the slide. I was in the pool waiting for her. Another child ran up to her father who was next to me and told him a girl was coughing and crying in the 'catch' area for the slide. I ran over and my daughter said she didn't get up fast enough and she swallowed some water and was crying. The water moves pretty quick at the bottom of the slide and a small kid could easily get caught in it. I could not see her and I was only about 15 feet away and she's not that little of a kid. Make sure you stay by the bottom of the slide when your kids go down it...Mark

The Mickey pool is 18 inches deep. The Goofy pool is 4 feet deep. Neither is big enough to swim laps.

We were on the Magic two years ago, and my then 4 year old went down the slide fine, as long as he was sitting up. I wouldn't advise a younger child to lay down on his back when going down the slide. The current didn't seem very fast at all, because he had to scoot himself down to the end of the slide once he got near the bottom. You will have to watch you kids though because as others have said, the Mickey pool get crowded on sea days. Remind your child to move off the end of the slide and out of the catch area somewhat quickly, as others are coming down the slide and may bump into your child. The pool water was also cold (all pools were) and if there is a breeze blowing, the kids got cooled off rather quickly! I would take a beach robe to wrap your child up in if possible. Otherwise , enjoy! :flower1:
