How strict is the “no resort hopping”

Today we went from DHS to the Riviera to eat at Primo Piatto for lunch without anyone asking for a magic band scan. After eating lunch we went upstairs to the gift shop and sat in the lobby for 30 min. Nobody approached us.

My sons love the bacon cheeseburger at Primo Piatto and not getting one would really make them mad. Luckily that didn’t happen. Back in March we went 3 straight days eating the burger there and that is all they have been talking about since. They have been experimenting on making the garlic aioli. Our home resort is BLT.

We're staying at WL. Will we be able to go to the Poly for a Dole Whip?

Or visit the GF or CR gift shops?

EDIT: Just got off the phone with the WDW rez line and asked about this. According to whom I spoke with... if your MB is showing that you're a Disney guest staying at a resort (in our case AKL/WL) you can visit other resorts like the Poly. Can anyone else confirm?
That's great to know! Seems true and I don't see why (besides capacity issues) they wouldn't let onsite guests visit other resorts. Maybe only when capacity is an issue during peak times of the day, such as in the evening, they check magicbands to allow resort guests only.

I wanted to hop on over to Riviera to check out Primo Piatto! Looks like the chances are doing that next month are great then. Also planning on staying there in September so it'll be nice to hop on the skyliner and check the resort out.

The last reports I saw of people there, no one was even checking any more
We were there for the past week, and they certainly check if you are driving in. If you use Disney transportation, though, no one will check.

That would make sense. Someone driving in might likely be a day-tripper as opposed to someone who's paying to stay at one of the Resorts?

Thought I’d post an update—just checked into BWV and took the Skyliner to Riviera and had lunch at Primo Piatto. No checking anything, just hopped off the Skyliner and walked right to the resort!

So it certainly makes sense that if you arrive at the resort via Disney transport, they won't check but you can--and most likely will be--turned away if you drive to the resort yourself without ADR's.

We're locals and ate breakfast at a different resort TS each of the last 3 weekends, arriving by car. At GF they had a list of those with reservations and asked for our names to verify. At Wilderness we showed them our reservation on MDE and they let us right in. At Olivia's this morning I had my phone out with the reservation displayed but they barely glanced at it. I suspect they're stricter at GF, Coronado, and Yacht Club because they are part of the NBA "bubble".

Unless it’s been changed, a DVC member is allowed to drive to another DVC resort with or without a dining reservation

I think that it seems to be the 3 resorts with Convention Centers or can host large events. I totally agree, there is way too much conflicting information out there. The car issue seems to be a big one. I was told that you will get stopped going into any resort (in a car) and asked (Magicband Checked) if you have an ADR or why you are going to that resort. How true this is, I have no clue. I would think if you are on Disney transportation, be it Bus, Monorail or Skyliner, when you get off you can go into whatever resort you want and eat or shop.
We drove to two resorts and they checked a list for us to enter the parking lot. However, to enter the buildings no one checked our bands. We walked around the resorts after our meals. We walked over to BC from BW. We didn't try to go inside but no one was near the entrances checking people's bands as others entered.
