We are planning to go on the 3 day cruise this summer. How strict is disney on ages as far as activities are concerned? I have one child who is 17 1/2 and another who is 19. Would both kids be able to get into the piano bar, or adult beach? We're only talking 6 months but I don't want to cause any problems. Do they check birth certificates when we embark? I was just wondering how all this works. thanks in advance for your responses.

You have to give them birthdates prior to the cruise and yes, they do check birth certificates at check in.

They are very strict....my DD was only weeks away from being 18 and was denied entry to Palo. You age is keyed into your KTTW card. For proof all they would need to do is swipe their card....actually it is also noted if you are under 21 right on the front of the card.

Also, I have seen many young adults be asked to leave the clubs, adult pool area and Palo.

Very! You have to supply birthdates when you make your reservations, and they do check those on the documentation you provide, whether it's a birth certificate of passport. Your 17 1/2 YO will not be allowed access to any of the adult areas; Palo, Adult Pool, Spa, Serenity Bay (adult beach at CC), any clubs, etc. If they want to "hang" together, they will have to hang out in the areas that are not designated for adults.

Actually, when my DD's were 17 and 19, we signed up at the teen club and the counselors agreed to allow my older DD to attend also. They make that decision in person after speaking with a parent.

The girls were then able to enjoy some organized activities together. They will not let anyone under 18 into the adult areas, so this was a good alternative.
