If we're thinking about going next spring break---mid April, like this year, how close to that date could we reserve? We got this years reservations last October--6 months before we arrived and seemed to be okay. I don't think if we try to reserve in February that we will have any luck. The problem is two things---one we really need a new/used truck that has 4 doors that all of us can fit into so I don't have to drive the mini-van behind the truck again and two----gas prices---they may be $8.00 a gallon by then. Also, how bad are the crowds at Christmas---are they as bad as Thanksgiving? We did that one year and the crowds were okay the few days before Thanksgiving, but Thanksgiving day we couldn't even move in the park and we had a stroller back then. That was not fun! Thanks!

You can start reserving spots 500 days out. Call now. If you can't get your dates, keep calling every week. Disney does not release all sites for reservations at one time, they stagger the availability. For example, today there might only be 30 sites available for whatever the date is 500 days from now and next week another 30 sites may be available. The closer you get the more likely folks will cancel. By the same token, the closer you get the more often you should be calling, maybe every day or every other day.

I can relate to the gas prices. Start a special savings account now. Put away a tanks worth of gas, at the current price, every month. It will add up nicely.

Christmas is the busiest time at WDW. We did it once, stayed off site, but wouldn't do it again, too crazy for us. I've never seen the parks so crowded. It would probably be extremely difficult to get reservations now but you can try. Again, the closer it gets folks will cancel.

We just booked next April. We booked last April around Thanksgiving, but we had to cancel because snow days ate up our Easter vacation! We have this Christmas booked, but we couldn't get all the dates we wanted (yet!). I agree with the gas fund idea. We put money aside each payday just for that reason. So far it has worked out great for us. When we went at Thanksgiving, it cost us $800.00 for gas, and the prices were lower then. I can't imagine what the next trip will cost us in fuel!:scared1:

Christmas is busy. Book WAAAYYY in advance. There are "regulars" that book every year, and I always read about people trying to get in. The crowd level is better the first 2 weeks of December. We went then and loved it.

I like the idea of putting a tank of gas away every month. I should start that now for Oct. That is how I could plan my trips. When I have enough in the gas fund, go to the fort! If that falls 4 times a year than so be it, the gas gods say to go!
