how soon to buy air tix for April vacation? (leaving from Hartford)

I am wondering if someone who has done this can give me some advice. We don't want to buy too soon and miss any fare wars or added direct flight opportunities, but in checking the USAir site today for my dates a couple of the available flights already say SOLD OUT! Do you think they may do this on purpose to cause a buying panic? What is a smart stategy here? Thanks so much for taking the time to reply

I am having the SAME problem! Leaving from Boston or Providence next April 12th or 13th. Have ressies on hold with US Air, about $250 per person non-stop! We usually pay about $200, but usually go in Feb. or March. Now tht I am back to teaching, can only go Feb or April (we like to "miss" one week of colder weather!! DH won't go for Xmas, so do we book this or wait? Most airlines have said they are either booked and sold out or $$$$$$$$ or no non-stop, direct flights?!?! HELP!!
