How soon should I send a package to the resort?

I'm going to send some things ahead of time to where we are staying in Disney. We are checking in on a Friday. What day should I mail it? Would fedex or the Post Office be best? Also, how big were some of the boxes anyone has sent. Thanks!

We sent a package to our neighbor who was going. We sent it at work via UPS on Monday. I tracked it ,it got there on Friday, she checked in on Sunday.

It wasn't that expensive either and was heavy as there were some bottles in there!

I would mail it by Monday before you arrive just to be safe. I would insure it too.

I've never done this, though. Hopefully one of our veterans can give you some better info.

I would send one week ahead, making sure to mark it on the outside that it is for you and your arrival date.

Use UPS. You can find out exactly how many days it will take. Plus you can track it. Once the PO gets it it's no man's land until it's signed for!!

Just a word of warning. I managed to leave the download cable for our digital camera at home when I made my solo trip to DIScon 2002. After a couple of days, I realized my mistake. DW Sue packaged up the cable, called Beach Club Villas to find out EXACTLY how to address the package to me, and then headed over to the post office and sent the package priority mail. She figured 2 or 3 days to get to Florida would be just about perfect. Believe it or not, the package took over a week to make the trek from Ohio to Florida. And it was not sitting in a mailroom at the Beach Club. It just took that long.

Similarly, this same digital camera needed to be sent to New Jersey for repair. To make a long story short, I mailed it Priority Mail on Tuesday at 8AM and it didn't arrive at it's destination until the following Monday at 4:45PM.

Forget the USPS (unless you want to pay an arm and a leg for Express Mail).

Ultimately, the best way is FedEx as far as my experience goes. You will pay more, but their reliability was worth the piece of mind for me. Plus, it helps that I am in charge of the shipping and receiving department for my company;)

Anyway, we normally stay at Fort Wilderness in one of the cabins so I send a lot of stuff down. The last trip I sent 3 boxes. Dry goods that weighed about 40 pounds, refrigerated goods (packed with ice packs) at about 30 pounds and frozen goods (packed on dry ice...yeah, I have that also at my company) which weighed about 70 pounds. I sent it on Thursday and asked for either a Friday or Saturday delivery. When we arrived on Sunday, the CM said I had 3 boxes waiting for me in the back and they gathered them up in a golf cart and drove them to my cabin. Needless to say we had very little shopping to do.

Good luck.
