How social are you? How often do you have friends over?

My husband is very social; I am not. He does all the socializing he wants at the country club.

I do not even invite family to our home.

Minus the country club part I could have written this. We usually are not very social because we really don't have the time and the weekends are sacred to us so we usually are using that time to spend time together or do something on the neverending to do list for the house.

But lately we have met some of DD's classmates' parents and have found we have a lot in common so we have started hanging out with them more. We go out to dinner once a week and the girls have started having more sleepovers. DH is in St Louis for a business conference this weekend so we are planning to have them over next weekend to play Band Hero...they introduced us to this very addictive game.

I have a couple of my own friends I've had since grade school but they still live in my hometown which is an hour away so I don't get to see them that often. And DH has a small group of close friends that he will see about once a month or so for a UFC fight or similar.

But as a rule I'm not a very social person at all. I would rather go home and read a book than go out.

We used to be fairly social but we've become less so over the years. There are lots of reasons for this - people in this area aren't as friendly as back home, we are busy, money has often been tight and so on. Plus I really enjoy my quiet time.

I think also that many people have a tendency to become less social as they get older. I'm not quite sure why that is and it's certainly not true for everyone, but it is something I've noticed.

We have people over maybe 3 or 4 times a year. We should do it more, but our friends all have us over about the same amount so it would get pretty crazy trying to fit in more. A lot of our socializing at home seems to be the kids having their friends over and visiting with their parent when they come pick them up! With some of them driving now, even that is cutting back!

DH and I are going out to dinner tonight and I was just wishing we had thought to see if another couple wanted to come. We need to do more of that kind of thing.

We are extremely social. Usually have parties every weekend or every other. Just had a huge one last weekend and our next one will be May 15. If we aren't having parties, we have people over for poker, or a UFC fight, or just a simple BBQ. Last week we had one BFF and her family over on Monday for chinese, and then Tuesday we had my other BFF and another set of friends over for a BBQ.

I love entertaining. I love my house being noisy and fun!

We do a lot of events out of the house, too. Scouts, sports, volunteering at the kids school, etc.

So yes, we are very social!

Oh how I wish we could be like you. People around here are not very social or friendly at all. Very stand- offish. I am hoping once we sell our house and move to southern Illinois that will all change. From what I saw the people there are much friendlier.

Between family and close friends, we are busy probably 3 weekends a month. Not so much with neighbors.

When my schedule permits I see and have friends over. But I work every other weekend and holidays. Also the stress I have at work sometimes its nice to have quiet.;)
My house is definitely a party house. And with 3 acres of trees, horses and solitude, to get people to leave is the problem!:rotfl::rolleyes1

I'm extremely social df is a Hobbit. He could spend entire week without seeing anyone so if I want to be social I go out.
