Thanks everybody for the advice about 50s Prime Time! You saved me from almost-certain disaster!
DS9 has mild Asperger's, including some sensory issues (sensitive to certain sounds and smells, with some degree of fear of the dark). As I result, I suppose he's got a bit of an atypical pattern of what's scary, and what's fine. For example, Star Tours is no problem, and he's ridden it dozens of times (partly because it plays into his special interest), but Gadget Go-Coaster or Goofy's Barnstormer is out of the question. Pirates of the Carribean and Haunted Mansion are pretty much his limit. Ellen's Energy Adventure and Cranium Command are both fine. He did fine on the Great Movie Ride, but I had him hide his head for the Aliens section. And you don't even want to know how he responded to Stitch's Great Escape!
A moderately scary moment here and there doesn't have to be a problem -- he can hide his head in my lap and get through it as long as there's nothing poking at him (he got through Honey I Shrunk the Kids okay, as I knew when the mice were coming and could warn him to lift up his legs, but I didn't take him to Tough to be a Bug because there's really no hiding from some of the scariness in that one).
I was reading in the UG about the new Tiki Room show. He's seen the old Tiki Room, which didn't scare him at all. I heard some of the dialogue from the new Tiki Room on TGM Radio, and it sounded great -- sarcastic irreverant humor, which he loves loves loves. But then I was reading that it's a lot scarier, with storming Tiki Gods, room in total darkness, shaking benches, etc. Reviews in the UG suggested that now this show is aimed at older kids.
So . . . reports please? How scary is the new Tiki Room show, really? What are the ways in which it's scary? And how long do the scary parts last?
