How quiet is YC/BC?

We are changing plans for our July trip once again. Now, the huge family gathering has been moved to October so it will just be DH and I this summer. I asked DH "monorail to MK or walk to Epcot" and he said, "walk to Epcot." So I then I asked BWI or YC/BC? He said, "Are those the only options? I don't want to be in the middle of all that." His only two previous trips were to AKL and CBR - both of which felt very secluded and private. I do like to return to a quiet resort at the end of the day. I was thinking maybe YC? Any suggestions or ideas? I know the big draw to YC/BC is SAB but then I've also read about how crowded it can get on hot July days. I personally love the Poly and also think WL would be a good choice. DH is really pretty easy to please and will be fine with anything I choose. He does want to stay somewhere we haven't stayed before. I'm thinking this may be our last trip without little ones (fingers crossed) - well, except for the huge family one - you know what I mean - so I'd like it to be a little romantic.

TIA for all the expert advice!

Stayed at YC last Thanksgiving and it was VERY quiet and peaceful. Loved it. So much in fact that we've booked it again for this Thanksgiving. It's very adult like. I did see some children but they were all very well behaved. I would guess that the adults outnumbered the children unlike some of the other resorts that seem to attract large numbers of children.

We really loved the YC. Very elegant but homey. CMs very friendly to us. We had a room with a view of the quiet pool on the S/D side. It was very quiet and that pool area was very nice with a seemingly secluded hot tub. A little far from the main lobby but not far from the walkway to all the action. We look forward to staying there again someday. :wizard: (Unfortunately that trip was cut short due to Hurricane Frances).

If he wants quiet, I would also go with YC. We were here in December and found it to be very nice. It's a little more upscale and I know it's Disney, but it's described as being more adult oriented than BC. Stormalongbay is very crowded in the summer, but it's not your only pool option. There is also a 24 quiet pool that's located more towards the Swan/Dolphin end of the resort. I'd request a room in the area of the quiet pool also. If a full balcony is important to you, put that in your request also. Because of the roof line, some of the rooms on the 3rd and 4th floor would only have windows. The beds are incredibly soft. They have some rooms that have a strange setup though. The king bed is actually a murphy bed that folds up during the day. It's called a SICO room and it's advertised as being a bit smaller than a standard, but perfect for 2 adults. I can't find a photo of it anywhere, but I think I would prefer a standard room with a normal king sized bed.

You can't beat the convenience of having Epcot right there. It's not more than a 5 minute to the Int'l Gateway. When we stayed, we would sometimes just go in and grab a quick lunch or pastries from France and come back to the resort. Plus, it's nice having the option to do some of the activities at the Boardwalk if you want to, or just enjoy a romantic stroll around the lake in the evening. I don't think he'd be disappointed. I thought it rated high on the romance scale.

Swan & Dolphin are also Epcot area options. Although for quiet & romantic, I would echo the Yacht Club recommendations.... I think the Epcot area is so romantic anyways. Like Tammi said, it is so easy to stroll in & out of WS, to BW & just walking around Crescent Lake early in the morning or late at night is very peaceful & romantic.

YC was our 1st choice because the rooms are quiet. We are staying a BC which we have stayed at 3 times. Once we where down the hall from the service elevator and it winned all night. I like thr full balcony at YC.

YC is nice and quiet. Something about the lobby, with the wood paneling and the polished wood floors, seems to make things more subdued there than at BC. SAB can get crowded and if it does, the YC quiet pool is a super alternative. I've never seen more than 5 or 6 people there at any time.

My son and I stayed there over Spring Break last year. I had a wonderful quiet atmosphere even when it was packed with people. I would definitely recommend it for a romantic get away.

Thanks so much for all the replies! I was a little worried about the pool being so crowded. One of the things we liked best about CBR was how peaceful and quiet the quiet pools (aptly named, apparently) were. I'm considering splitting our stay between YC and the Poly - I haven't stayed there in forever and for me, nothing beats being able to sit on the beach and see the castle. princess:
