How quickly do the bottoms of your Crocs wear out?

I bought myself a pair of Crocs in April, in preperation for our trip this August. I've been wearing them when I can, but certainly not excessively.

I've only had them a couple months now, and part of both of the bottoms are already worn out! The middle of the foot in the front is completely gone! Is this normal? I've bought Crocs for all of us, and none of the other three pairs show anything close to this kind of wear.

Not only am I worried that I won't have any traction left in them before long, I'm seriously worried that they'll wear so thin they'll be useless!

Is this normal? I thought Crocs were made for people who work on boats... seems like a bad idea for them to loose traction so quickly! Does the manufacturer offer some kind of guarantee on them? (won't help me much if I do, even if I still had the receipt the place I bought them from doesn't give itemized receipts, so I could have bought anything for $25 according to them...)

Anyone?

I emailed Crocs customer support this morning, complete with pictures... though I don't know whether or not that'll do me any good :guilty:

Wow! I am surprised! I bought my first crocs in April of 06' so just over a year ago and I wear them every chance I get. Granted mine are bit worn on the bottoms but they are still comfortable and fit to keep wearing them. I decided I wanted another pair but only because I wanted another color not because they are too worn out. I plan on bringing my original ones on our next trip and this will be their second trip to Disney!

I just figured that crocs were tough enough to take a beating.

I have never heard of croc's bottoms wearing out quickly. Are you shuffling your feet? I have had my Mary Jane's for nearly a year now and the bottoms are great!

Here's a picture of them...

(the faded color is from the flash on the camera - they're not washed out like that in real life)

As far as I know I'm not shuffling my feet... just walking normal. I wear them around the house to do housework instead of going barefoot, for the arch support. I've worn them walking outside (no different from WDW, right??). But certainly nothing excessive!

I would contact crocs for sure. I have had my first pair for 1 1/2 years now I wear them alot, and they are still like new when I clean them up, they have been through two trips to Disney and several camping trips. DD 8 wore hers to school every day and for 10 days at Disney this year and we have had no problem with hers.

The exact same thing has happened to mine and I only got mine in the first week of June.

Please let me know what the company comes back and tells you (You can PM me) because I'm in the same situation and was wondering the same thing.

Will do, if/when I hear something...

Oh, heck, that's nothing!

I have a pair of Cleos that I've worn pretty much nonstop since the end of March. The bottoms are almost completely gone. I just ordered a new pair earlier this week. My originals came from Nordstrom, so I doubt they'd take them back.

Here's the bottom of one of mine:

My first pair that I bought in July or August of last year are still wearable, but the traction of the soles is pretty bad at this point and I shouldn't wear them in the rain because they do get slippery. But I'd say I got a pretty solid six-eight months of nearly daily wear out of them before I felt like I needed a new pair for rainy days.

I did notice that they wear differently depending on how your particular foot makes contact when you walk. The ball of the foot area of my DD's crocs still look new, whereas the heel, particularly the outside, are completely worn away. The ball of the foot area of my crocs gets worn away fastest on mine and I think that is because when I walk, the ball of my foot hits and then I twist my foot slightly as I push off for the next step (I noticed this walking barefoot on sidewalk, I could actually feel it through my skin).

I got pretty good support from Crocs when one of the rivets on my new pair broke. They had a special form to fill out online and they sent me a whole packet full of new rivets in the mail for free.

Good Luck!

It looks like normal wear to me...how they wear depends on how you walk....and what type of surfaces you walk most on.

Mine look like yours do, but I have worn them just about everyday since Christmas. I just ordered a new pair that I am going to wait until October to break in so their tread isn't gone. Mine are still completely wearable just kind of painful on pointy rocks. I figure for a $30 pair of shoes worn daily 6 months is a good life span.

If you hear from them, please post it here. I'd like to know too. I just got mine last week and they kind of look like that. I'm going back to the store tonight to see what they say as to if it's normal or not and if I can maybe exchange them.

I personally believe that their manufacturing process has changed. My first pair - original Boulder born ones - took 2-1/2 years to wear down. The newer ones that my DSs wear last a few months. I don't wear Beaches much myself anymore so I don't have mine to gauge (well, I do have Mickey crocs in red but I look like a clown wearing them. Size 10 + bright red shoes = ridiculous!)

What style is everyone wearing? My first pair (beach) is well over a year old and I wear them daily. They look much better than the pictures shown here. They were made in the USA. My second pair (Disney beach) just dont feel the same. They are much softer and feel different. I havent worn them much, but they still look good. I got them as soon as they came out.

I have the mary jane style in celery and mine were made in China. This thread make me look at the bottom of my Crocs this morning, so I saw the "made in China" print. ;)

My Crocs are virtually the only shoes I wear...I got them in March, I think. And, the bottom of mine aren't worn...just dirty. LOL

So, I take back my comment earlier about that looking like normal wear...it isnt.

Let us know what you find out!

This is my only complaint with Crocs. The bottoms wear out far too fast! I wear Caymans, if that makes any difference. Maybe I just walk weird. :confused3

Mine only seem to make it through one Disney trip with good traction. I wish I could get at least 2 out of them!
